The Best Discord Bots To Have In 2019
Last Updated: February 15, 2020
Discord bots are one of the many features of this chat platform that makes it stand out from the crowd and are one of the reasons why it took over from TeamSpeak and Ventrilo so quickly. They can be very useful, amusing at times and can make the task of running a server much easier than it otherwise would be. With hundreds to choose from, what are the best Discord bots to have in 2019?
There are lots of repositories of Discord bots and lots of great guides on building your own. Some bots are more popular than others thanks to their usefulness and quality of the code. I have scoured the internet looking for the most popular bots to use and this list is what I found.
The best Discord bots in 2019
These are what I think are some of the best Discord bots you can use right now.
MEE6 is a complete server management bot that can perform a wide range of predefined tasks and custom ones with some simple commands. It is the most popular Discord bot and has been for a while. It helps moderate and run servers like no other and you can set it up and forget it or manage it more closely depending on your needs. There is a small learning curve when getting to grips with it but otherwise is as simple as they come.
Trivia Bot is more light hearted and does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a bot that joins your server and offers trivia games to users. It covers all kinds of subjects and has over 3,000 items of trivia and questions. It isn’t as helpful as MEE6 but it offers entertainment and a little extra life to the server. Well worth trying.
YAGPDB is another helpful bot for server management. It can moderate, work with custom commands, provide auto responses for common questions, provide server stats, kick, ban and prune, clean chat, add YouTube videos and Reddit feeds and a ton of other neat stuff. It’s a very fully featured bot that is worth experimenting with.
Hydra is, in my opinion, the best music bot for Discord. I prefer to use another app to play music but if you want to provide it within Discord, this is the bot to use. As Groovy bot doesn’t seem to be available anymore, this is the go-to option for many users. It can play YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud and more and is very straightforward to set up and use.
GameStats is another self-descriptive Discord bot that is worth having. It collects stats from popular games like Dota 2, League of Legends, Overwatch, PUBG, CS: GO and others. It can display all stats for online players but won’t clog the channel with stats from those who are not logged into Discord. This is a neat feature that keeps stats relevant and stops you from having to clean up every five minutes.
Aethex is another multifaceted Discord bot that can perform a range of tasks. It can moderate, answer basic questions, use search, roll dice to help make decisions, mute, ban or kick, track game stats and a ton of other stuff. It can also play music although I prefer to use Hydra. It is a very popular bot and for good reason. It is reliable, stable and has a ton of features. Definitely worth checking out.
Dyno is another multi-purpose bot that can make running a Discord server much easier. It can moderate, check logs, broadcast messages, provide game stats, give announcements, play music and a whole lot more. It has a neat dashboard to control its features and is very stable and easy to use. It is regularly updated too so the developer is still invested in maintaining the bot. Another reason to try it.
Pancake is worth trying for the name alone, who doesn’t like pancakes? This bot is a multi-purpose bot that can moderate, kick, ban, mute, manage permissions, play music, generate images, play casino games, add joke commands and all manner of stuff. It’s a mix of the useful and the amusing and adds a little brevity to any server.
Those are what I think are the best Discord bots to have in 2019. I’m sure your list would look different and I would be interested to hear your favorites. Tell us about them below so we can all try them!
