A Quick Guide On Making Movies In Google Photos

If you thought that you could only use Google Photos to store countless media files—you’re wrong. A recent discovery about the app taught me that apart from this purpose, we can also make creative collages, animations, and movies with it.

You read it right! You may think that it’s pretty impossible to do it, but that’s why this guide was tailor-made for you. After reading this article, you won’t simply be storing images and videos on Google Photos because you now have the option to become creative with them.

Whether you’re on your desktop or mobile device, completing this process is undoubtedly just a piece of cake.

Using a Mobile Device In Creating a Movie

If you want a more convenient and easy way to create a movie or slideshow, this guide will teach you how to make one using the Google Photos app on your mobile phone.

1. Open the Google Photos application on your phone.

First, you have to launch the application on your mobile device and sign in to your account.

2. Select the “Library” button at the bottom of the screen.

At the bottom of the screen, four buttons will be available: photos, search, sharing, and library. You must select the “Library” button to bring you to a new screen.

3. Click on the “Utilities” option.

If you’re already in the “Library” screen, you’ll see a new set of four different folders: Favorite, Utilities, Archive, and Trash. Select the “Utilities” folder to show the entire Utilities page on your screen, and begin creating a movie.

4. Select “Movie” from the “Create New” section.

In the “Utilities” folder, look for the “Create New” section. Under that, select “Movie” from all the options shown on your screen.

5. Choose the “New Movie” options or select a theme.

When you click on the “Movie” options, you’ll get to choose among several themes before completely creating a movie. Browse through them and pick the one you like, yet you’re free to click the “New Movie” button when you don’t have a preference from all the options shown.

Creating Movies on Your Computer

If you want a bigger screen to create and edit a movie, you may do so on your computer by following the steps below.

1. Select “Utilities” from the panel on the right side of the page.

After opening Google photos on your browser, you’ll see a panel with different buttons on the right side of the screen. From the options shown, you have to select “Utilities” so that the Utilities page appears.

2. Choose “Movie” from the provided options.

There would be different sections on the Utilities page, but you specifically have to look for the “Create New” section and select “Movie” from all the options shown.

3. Select your preferred theme from the available choices.

Google Photos already made things easier for you by providing many themes for the movie you will create. Choose which theme you prefer most and after you’ve decided, click on that specific option.

4. Click the “Get Started” button on the window.

After selecting a theme, a pop-up window will appear. From there, click on the “Get Started” button to proceed. In the example below, we used the theme named “Doggie Movie.”

5. Select from all the faces shown on your screen, then click “Done.”

All the different faces, including your pets that are registered on your account, will be shown. Choose the one you wish to include in the movie you plan to create, and click “Done” on the top-right corner of your screen after.

Remember that you won’t be the one to choose the photos to be included in the movie in this process—Google Photos will automatically select the images to be used.

6. To finish your movie, select “OK” from the pop-up window.

To complete the activity of creating a movie, you have to select “OK” in the pop-up window that will appear. Doing so will indicate that you have successfully created one and can access it in your Library folder.

Wrapping It All Up

Even though the features in Google Photos limit you to only create movies with basic elements, being able to play with the media uploaded in your photo library is, in itself, a fantastic thing already.

Also, you won’t have to do much editing because some of the things you’ll be troubled with are just choosing your preferred them for the movie and selecting the images you have to include in them. After that, Google will basically do all the work for you!

However, keep in mind that there’s a limit to the number of photos you can upload in a single movie, and that’s 50. Still, that’s already a lot, so I’m sure you can do so much with it!
