However, what if you want to receive emails from a specific email address? Is there another option contrary to blocklisting? Why, yes! Thanks to Gmail, you may be able to allow an email or certain emails to avoid getting them spammed.
Allowing an email address is essential, especially if you want to receive important emails from that address. This is why it’s essential to familiarise yourself with the steps below.
1. Open your Gmail Inbox.
Open your web browser and navigate to the Gmail website. Make sure to log into your account so that you may gain access to your Gmail inbox.
2. Click the Settings icon.
Once you’ve logged into your Gmail account, find the Settings button represented by a gear symbol. You may be able to locate this in the upper-right corner of your window. Click on it to make a pop-up side panel appear.
3. Click on “See all settings” under the Quick settings category.
In the side panel, you’ll see several sections. Locate “Quick settings” and click on the “See all settings” option under it. You won’t have difficulty finding this option, as it is the only one placed under Quick settings.
4. Select the “Filters and blocked addresses” tab.
Upon clicking on “See all settings,” you will be redirected to another window – the Setting window. From there, you’ll see on its upper portion several tabs such as General, Labels, Inbox, Account and Import, Filters and blocked addresses, Forwarding, and POP/IMAP, Add-ons, Chat, and Meet, Advanced, Offline, and Themes. Hover your cursor to the “Filters and blocked addresses” tab and click on it to open the settings located under it.
5. Click on “Create a new filter.”
In the Filters and blocked addresses tab, you’ll see your previously created filters and as well as emails that you’ve previously blocked. Scroll past your formerly made filters and click on the “Create a new filter” blue button. You’ll see this above the phrase, “The following email addresses are blocked. Messages from these addresses will appear in Spam.”
6. Input the email address that you want to whitelist.
Clicking the “Create a new filter” button will make a pop-up window appear. Besides the word “From,” enter the email address you want to be safelisted.
7. Click “Create filter” at the bottom of the pop-up window.
After you’ve successfully entered the email address that you want to whitelist, make sure to double-check if you’ve inputted the correct one. If you’re already certain, then proceed to click the “Create filter” button beside “Search.” You may be able to spot these two buttons at the bottom of the pop-up window.
8. Put a mark on “Never send it to Spam.”
Once you’ve clicked “Create filter,” you will be redirected to another pop-up window. From there, a list of options will appear. Find the option that says “Never send it to Spam” and put a tick on it.
9. Click on the “Create filter” button again.
On the second pop-up window, you’ll notice at the bottom that a “Create filter” button is available once again. After you’ve marked “Never send it to Spam,” click on the “Create filter” button to finish setting up your whitelisted email address. Doing this will automatically save the changes that you’ve made.
