How To Use Google Home Without Wifi

The Google Home device is designed to work with an internet connection. It relies on a stable connection to do most of its features. If you don’t have WiFi currently at home and you are looking for a different way to connect to your Google Home device, you’ve come to the right place.

Even though you can use your Google Home without WiFi, you will have access to a limited amount of things you can do. For example, you can interact with it. But, every time you try to access any of its features you will get the same response.

The Google Home will ask you to connect to your WiFi. As you tap on the screen to do anything on the Google Home Hub, Google Home will ask for a connection. The best way to access all of its features, even if you don’t have WiFi, is to connect your Google Home to Hotspot.

Now, you can do that with your phone or any smart device that you have. Here is how you can do it.

Step 1

Take your phone or any smart device and turn the Hotspot on. It is in the Settings menu.

Step 2

Launch the Google Home app. Click on the button that looks like a profile icon on the bottom right corner of the screen.

Step 3

Now, you can see your account settings. Click on the option right under your email which is “Set up or add”. This will open a new window.

Step 4

Here, click on “Set up device”. It is the first option from the top.

Step 5

In “the Set-Up” window you can see the devices you already have or you can add new ones. If you’ve never connected your Hotspot to the Google home device, click on “New Devices” and open it.

Step 6

Give the connection a nickname. You can use it to identify the connection later. When you are done, confirm your changes on the bottom corner of the screen.

Step 7

The Google Assistant will now look for devices. Wait a few seconds to up to a minute for the app to locate the Google Home device.

Step 8

Once the Google Assistant has located your Google Home, click on “Yes” to confirm. It is the button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Step 9

Lastly, this is the screen you will get once you’ve successfully connected your Google Home to Hotspot. Now, you can go ahead and set it up.

Technically, Hotspot will work if you want to connect your Google Home to anything. But, have in mind that your phone battery will quickly drain. It is not a good idea to rely on this method too often. In cases like this one when your internet is down, you can definitely use it to connect to the Google Home device.

It is possible to navigate the Google Home menu without WiFi, but there is nothing else you can do besides that. That’s why it is a good idea to connect it to Hotspot. Now that you know how to do it, go ahead and give it a try.
