How To Turn Off Subtitles On The Firestick

Some Prime movies and TV shows have the option to add subtitles, which are also known as closed captions. This is a great tool, especially if you have a hearing problem, or when the show is not broadcasted in your mother tongue.

However, sometimes you can grow tired of watching your favorite shows with subtitles. For example, you are alone at your house, and there is no necessity to have closed captions on. In this case, subtitles can be annoying and distract you from what is happening in the video or show.

If watching the closed captions appearing on the screen is driving you crazy, this guide is for you. Just follow these simple steps, and you will be free from the burden.

From the Home Screen:

Step 1

You must enter in the settings menu. You can open it from the home screen, use your controller to swing and choose it. It is the last option of the top menu.

Alternatively, you can press and hold the home button on your Firestick remote.

After some time, a new set of options will appear on the screen. Choose the settings options, which is at the far right of the screen.

Step 2

Once you are inside the settings menu, swing right until you find the accessibility option. Click on it and wait a few seconds.

Step 3

After you click it, a new set of options will appear. Select the Closed Captions option. Then turn it off and that is all.

By doing this process, you will deactivate all closed captions in all the things you watch. If you ever want to turn them on again, you just have to do the same procedure, but turn closed captions on in step 3. As you can see, it is quite a simple process. Say goodbye to that annoying subtitles that distract you from what is happening on the screen!

Directly from the Video

Another way is to click the circle button at the top of your controller. Then choose the gear icon, which is at the bottom right of the screen. A pop-up menu will appear on the screen, swing to the CC icon, click it, and choose “none”. There you can also select among the different languages for subtitles. For example, you can change the CC from English to Spanish or vice-versa with this simple process.

Now, press the back button on the Firestick remote, and it is done.

Alternatively, you can press the home button on your Firestick remote while you are watching a video that has subtitles. Then click on the subtitles and audio option and choose the “turn off” option. Finally, press the home button again to get back to the video. Now, all the subtitles will disappear, and you can enjoy your show without further distractions.

As said before, to be able to either turn on or off closed captions, the show has to have them. Otherwise, doing either process will be useless.
