How to turn off commenting on your post on Instagram

If you’re receiving many comments on one of your posts on Instagram, you can turn off the commenting option indefinitely. Once you disable commenting, the app hides any existing comments from the post until you enable comments.

You can toggle comments on your posts whether you’re using Instagram on your phone or computer. In our tutorials below, we’ll show you how to do it from both devices.

On your phone:

1. Launch the Instagram app on your phone and sign in to your account.
2. Tap your profile icon on the bottom right to visit your profile page.
3. Open one of the posts you have on your profile.
4. Tap More options (three dots icon) on the top right side of the post.
   
   
5. Select the “Turn off commenting” option on the menu that appears.
   
   

When you turn off commenting on a post, no one can comment until you turn it back on. If you ever change your mind, tap More options > Turn on commenting to undo your decision.

On your computer:

1. Visit the Instagram web app on your favorite browser and sign in to your account.
2. Click “Profile” from the sidebar.
