As the owner, you have all the editing permission to manage your workspace on ClickUp. On top of managing the members, tasks, and other content within the workspace, you can also delete it whenever you want.

But what if there comes a time when you no longer want to manage a workspace? If you don’t want the workspace tasks and other data to go to waste, you can give the ownership to another member.

Here’s a quick guide to help you transfer ownership of a ClickUp workspace.

How to transfer ownership of your workspace to another user on ClickUp

If you don’t want to manage one of your workspaces on ClickUp anymore, you can transfer the ownership to one of its members. In this way, you won’t have to delete the workspace while allowing other people to continue using it.

You can transfer the ownership of your workspace from the ClickUp desktop or web app. Check our tutorial below, and we’ll cover the steps to do so.

On your computer:

1. Open the ClickUp desktop or web app and sign in to your account.
2. Click your workspace or profile icon at the bottom of the sidebar.
   
   
3. Once the menu appears, select “Settings” under the workspace options.
   
   
4. On the workspace settings page, select the “Transfer ownership of Workspace” option.
   
   
5. Select one of the members from the menu.
6. Click the Transfer ownership button on the pop-up window to confirm your decision.

Once you transfer the ownership of a workspace on ClickUp, the new owner will have full editing permission over the workspace. The new owner can manage members, delete the workspace, or transfer the ownership to another member.

You can only make someone the owner if they’re a guest, member, or admin of your workspace. Also, there can only be one workspace owner at a time.

Unfortunately, there’s no option to transfer workspace ownership from the ClickUp mobile app. However, you can open the web client on your phone’s browser to manage your workspace and delegate another user as the owner.
