How To Tell If Gmail Is Full

Have you reached your Gmail limit? You can’t send any more emails? If that’s the case, your Gmail storage is probably full. Google gives 15GB of storage for anyone who has a Google Account. So, you have plenty of storage on your Google Drive, Google Photos, and Gmail.

But, what happens when that storage fills up? We will show you how you can check your Google storage. More precisely, your Gmail storage space. You can see how much space you have left or if you should start deleting emails to free-up some space.

Check Your Storage Data

When it comes to emails, they don’t take up too much space. But, if you have some attachments and plenty of emails accumulating for years, the storage will add up. Many people forget to delete their emails on Gmail. So, they end up with too many emails that take a lot of space.

What you should do in this case, is check how much storage space you have left. You can do that on your Gmail. It is at the bottom of the screen. See the screenshot below.

If you want to see more detailed info about your storage space, check your current storage. It is in the Google Drive storage. This is a separate page. It is not in your Google Drive. Log in with your Google account. Then, you will get a graph that will show you all the storage space you have used.

In this particular example, Gmail has used 13.43 GB of space. It takes a lot of space. Depending on how much storage you have left, you will receive different numbers.

What If I Reach My Limit on Gmail?

If you are close to the storage limit, Gmail will send you a notification. This notification will pop up in your inbox. Here is how it looks.

That means you can’t send or receive messages. But, you can access them. If anyone tries to send you an email on Gmail, they will also get a notification. Here is how it looks.

What Should I Do If My Gmail is Full?

The first and most important thing is to delete all the emails you don’t need. Empty your Inbox, Junk, and Sent emails. But, don’t forget to empty the Trash too. Even if you delete your emails, they will still go to your Trash. Make sure to free up some space by emptying the trash.

To do it, go to the “Trash” on the left menu of the screen. Click on it. Then, go to the button on the top that says “Empty Trash Now”. Select it. Now, all the emails you have in Trash will automatically be deleted.

By doing this, you will have enough space to receive and send new emails.

Your Gmail storage is not limitless. That’s why you should delete the messages you don’t need just to avoid piling them up. If you reach the limit on your Gmail account, you won’t be able to receive or send messages to anyone. Let us know if you found this helpful in the comments below.
