How To Tag Faces In Google Photos
Last Updated: September 28, 2021
Photo libraries such as Google Photos and iCloud are ideally helpful in keeping or storing our media files — even the oldest memories we may have from years ago. That’s a great thing, yet the disadvantage to it is that when we wish to look for a specific photo from those thousands of uploads we have, it’s like we’re searching for a needle in a haystack.
Luckily, I found a way for us to skip that hassle, and that is learning how to tag faces in Google Photos. Once you know the person you’ll be looking for in a specific photo, you can search their name, and the images where that person is tagged will immediately show on your screen.
Now, you won’t have to waste a lot of your time just manually combing through all your image uploads in Google Photos. Learn more about tagging photos with this guide.
1. Open the Google Photos application on your phone and sign in to your account.
To begin tagging people in your Google Photos images, you must first open the Google Photos app and ensure that your account is logged in.
2. Select the “Photos” option at the bottom of the screen.
You must select “Photos” from the different buttons shown at the bottom of the Google Photos screen, which will immediately take you to all of the existing photos stored in your account.
3. Choose a photo that you want to tag.
Go through all of your photos and choose the ones you want the tagging settings to be changed.
4. Find the person that you want to tag from the thumbnail and click the “Add name” button.
Swipe up after selecting a photo to see a collection of thumbnails of the identified faces. You can tag them by clicking the “Add name” button exactly beneath their faces.
5. If a person is not identified by Google, click the pencil icon to edit the photo’s tagged list.
When you click the pencil icon, you’ll be directed to a screen where you can remove faces that aren’t in the photo but were included by Google. And if you can remove an identified face, you can also add faces that should actually be in the picture but just weren’t detected.
6. At the bottom part of the screen, click the face of the person that you want to tag.
To add a specific face to the tagged people, click the face of the person you want to add under the “Available to add” heading.
7. Click the plus symbol on the top-right corner of the screen.
A new display will appear on the screen, and you must click the plus icon in the upper right corner of the screen to continue with tagging and adding a person’s face to the list.
8. Click the “Create” button to confirm the activity.
Before Google proceeds with adding the specific person’s face, they will ask for your confirmation to ensure that everything is correct and in order. To confirm this activity, select the “Create” button.
It’s very fascinating to know that computers, nowadays, can recognize the faces of different people. Consequently, making some tasks and responsibilities a lot easier for us to accomplish. The feature of tagging faces in Google Photos is the best example to highlight that fact. It allows us to determine the persons present in a particular picture and helps us bring up a specific photo right when we need it.
