How To Start An Activity On Discord

Discord is a fun place to hang out with your friends online. You can send messages and share content in text channels, join different communities, or talk with people on voice channels.

If you’re looking for something fun to do with your friends on the app. You can use the activities feature to play games or watch media without opening another app.

How to create an activity on your Discord channels

If you want to play games or watch videos with your friends on Discord, you can start an activity on one of your voice channels. In this way, you can talk to them while having fun together.

You can start an activity from your voice channels on the Discord desktop or web app. In our step-by-step tutorial below, we’ll teach you how to use the feature on your account.

On your computer:

1. Open the Discord desktop app or visit their web client and sign in to your account.
2. Go to one of your servers and join one of its voice channels.
3. Click the rocket icon on the bottom left to start an activity.
   
   
4. Choose the activity that you want to use with your friends on the voice channel.
   
   
5. Approve any requests for authorization on the app to continue (for some activities).

That’s how you start an activity on the Discord desktop or web app. Voice channel members can choose to join you in the activity or just talk through the microphone.

If you want to leave the activity, hover your mouse pointer on the screen and select the red “Leave activity” icon on the options at the bottom of your screen. Leaving an activity doesn’t automatically remove you from the voice channel.

Some of you might notice that you can only choose from a few activity selections on your server. To gain access to more activities, subscribe to Discord Nitro.

Unfortunately, activities are only available on the Discord desktop and web app. Hopefully, we’ll get to experience this new feature on the mobile app in the future.
