Tutorial
In WhatsApp, there are times when people don’t have time to view and thoroughly read some of their messages. Thankfully, the app allows you to bookmark your messages so that you can come back to them much faster in the future.
With the help of the “star” feature on WhatsApp, you can bookmark messages from different conversations, marking them as important. You can check all your starred messages in one place, so there’s no need for you to browse your chats one by one.
Here’s our guide about bookmarking specific messages on WhatsApp.
How to bookmark your messages on WhatsApp
If you want to bookmark your messages on WhatsApp, you can star them within the conversation. In this way, you can find them much easier in the future.
You can bookmark messages on WhatsApp whether you’re using the app on your desktop or mobile device. Check our step-by-step tutorials below, and we’ll show you how.
On your phone:
- Launch WhatsApp from your home screen or app drawer.
- Head to one of your group or private conversations on the app.
- Tap and hold to one of your conversations.
- Tap the star option on the header to bookmark the message.
That’s how you star a message in WhatsApp. You can check all your starred messages by navigating to your chats list > More options > Starred messages.
If you ever change your mind, you can always un-star any of your messages. When you do, the star icon below the message disappears automatically.
On your computer:
- Open the WhatsApp desktop app and sign in to your account by scanning the QR code that appears on your screen.
- Head to one of your conversations and browse the chat.
- Hover your mouse pointer to one of the messages on the conversation and click the drop-down arrow.
- On the menu that appears, select the “Star message” option.
When you browse a conversation, you’ll see a star icon on all the messages you marked. You can hover on the message, click the drop-down arrow, and select the un-star option whenever you want.
To wrap it all up
Now that you know how to use the star feature on WhatsApp, you can bookmark specific messages whenever you want. Although there’s no limit to the number of messages you can mark, you might want to restrain yourself from bookmarking a lot of messages.
Please note that deleting a chat also removes all your starred messages within the conversation. As such, always check your list of starred messages before deciding to do so.
