How To Share Your Screen On Slack

Do you have something to present to other workspace members on Slack? Or do you want to show other participants a process about using another app step-by-step? Either way, you can opt to share your screen during calls or huddles on the app. In our tutorial below, we’ll show you how to do so.

Tutorial

Channels and DMs on Slack are for discussions and sharing ideas in your workspace. Although you can post your files on your conversations, there are times where people need to share their screen to present files or teach other members through a call.

Thankfully, those on paid plans can share their screen during a call or huddle on the app. As such, there’s no need for you to use third-party apps to start a quick presentation with other conversation members.

When sharing your entire desktop, you can draw on your screen to focus on some parts of your presentation. You can also allow other users to draw with you.

These are some of the things that you can do while sharing your screen on Slack. With that in mind, here’s our quick guide about starting one of the calls you host on the app.

How to share your screen on your calls on Slack

If you want to help a teammate with a step-by-step process on Slack, you can opt to share your screen on the app. In this way, you can discuss the things on your screen while talking to other call participants.

You can share your screen from the Slack desktop or web app. Follow our step-by-step tutorial below, and we’ll show you how.

Note: Screen sharing is available to all members and guests of a workspace subscribed to a premium plan.

  1. Launch the Slack app on your computer or visit their web browser client and sign in to your account.
  2. Head to the channel or DM where you want to share your screen.
  3. Click the conversation’s name on the top left side of the header.

  4. On the top right corner of the conversation options window, click “Start a Call.”

  5. Once you’re inside the call room, click the Share screen icon at the bottom.

  6. Select your desktop or one of your apps and click the Share button on the bottom right.

That’s how you share your screen on the Slack app on your computer. If you can’t use the feature on the web client, make sure to use Google Chrome as your browser.

Sharing your entire desktop allows you to draw on your screen, which can help you discuss much more efficiently. However, you can opt to show one of your apps instead of your entire desktop to hide other data from the call participants.

Always remember that you can also share your screen on your huddles on conversations. You’ll find the option to do so at the bottom of your sidebar.

Unfortunately, sharing your screen isn’t available to the Slack app for mobile at the moment. However, they might add the feature in future updates.

To wrap it all up

Now that you know how to share your screen on Slack, you can start presenting or teaching other workspace members right away. Whether you want to share during a call or a huddle, it’s all up to you.
