Follow our guide below, and we’ll cover all the things you need to know about removing people from the group that you manage on Viber.

Tutorial

In Viber, users can create groups with their friends, family, and contacts on the app. With the help of this feature, you can easily start discussions and plans on the app in a single conversation.

If you’re managing a large group, there might be situations where you’ll need to manage the members. If there are unwanted users in the chat, you can remove them as an admin.

Here’s our guide about removing group members on Viber.

How to kick a group member from a Viber group chat

If someone is causing a disturbance to your group chat on Viber, you can kick them out of the conversation. As long as you’re an admin, you have permission to manage a group’s members list and remove people you don’t want participating in the chat.

You can remove group members whether you’re using the Viber desktop or phone app. We’ll show you the steps to do so from both app versions in our tutorials below.

On your phone:

  1. Launch the Viber app from your home screen or app drawer and sign in to your account.
  2. Head to the Chats tab and open the group that you want to manage.
  3. Tap More options (three dots icon) on the top right corner and select “Chat info” from the menu.

  4. Look for one of the members under the Participants list and tap their name. Once the menu appears on your screen, select the “Remove from chat” option.

  5. Tap Ok on the pop-up window to confirm your decision.

Once you remove someone from the group, they won’t be able to receive or send messages in the chat. If you ever change your mind, you can invite the person back to the group whenever you want.

On your computer:

  1. Open the Viber desktop app and sign in to your account.
  2. Browse the chats list and open the group that you want to manage.
  3. Select the “Participants” option from the Chat information tab on the right side of the chat. If you can’t see the group information page, click the info icon on the conversation header.

  4. Click the “X” icon beside the participant that you want to kick and select the “Remove from chat” option from the menu to confirm your decision.

Always remember that only admins have permission to remove someone from a group. Regular members can’t kick out other members, including admins.
