How to remove a group from a WhatsApp community
If you no longer want a group in your community on WhatsApp, you can remove it whenever you want. As long as you’re the owner or one of the admins, you have permission to manage the groups within the community.
You can remove groups from your WhatsApp community whether you’re on your phone or computer. Check our tutorials below, and we’ll cover the steps from both devices.
On your phone:
- Open WhatsApp on your device and sign in to your account.
- Head to the Community tab (select the icon beside the Chats tab) and open the community that you want to manage.
- Tap More options (three dots icon) on the top right corner and select “Manage groups” from the menu.
- Tap the “X” icon beside the group that you want to remove from the community.
- Tap “Remove” from the pop-up window to confirm your decision.
After removing a group, it will no longer be a part of your community in the future. Group members can still find and use the conversation on the chats tab to send messages and make calls.
On your computer:
- Launch the WhatsApp desktop or web app and sign in to your account.
- Click the Communities icon on the top of the sidebar.
- Open the community that you want to manage and select the “Manage groups” option.
- Click the “X” icon beside the group that you want to remove from the community.
- Click Remove on the pop-up window to confirm your decision.
If you ever change your mind, you can always add a group back to the community as long as you’re one of its admins. However, always remember that you can only add up to 50 groups to your community, excluding the announcement group.
