Do you want to catch the attention of your meeting host in Zoom? Do you want to do it without using the microphone while someone’s speaking at the webinar? If that’s the case, you can use the “raise hand” feature to notify the meeting host. Check our guide below, and we’ll show you how to find the option on your webinar controls on the Zoom mobile and desktop app.
Tutorial
When someone is presenting or speaking during a webinar on Zoom, it can be rude to butt in and talk without permission. However, we understand that there are situations where you want to ask a question to the host of the room.
Thankfully, the app has a raise hand feature that allows you to get the attention of the webinar host discreetly. When the host sees the notification, they can prompt you to speak your thoughts.
Here’s our guide about using the raise hand option on Zoom.
How to use the raise hand feature on your Zoom meetings
If you want to get the attention of the meeting host without suddenly interrupting the current speaker, you can raise your hand during the webinar. In this way, you can wait until the host prompts you before asking your questions or inquiries during the meeting.
You can use the raise hand option whether you’re using Zoom on your phone or computer. Follow our quick tutorials below, and we’ll show you how to use the feature from both devices.
On your phone:
- Open Zoom on your phone and sign in to your account.
- Join a meeting on the app.
- Tap the Reactions option at the bottom of the meeting window. If you can’t see the meeting controls, tap your screen once.
- Select the “Raise hand” option on the menu that appears on your screen.
That’s how you raise your hand during Zoom meetings from the mobile app. If needed, you can tap Reactions > Lower hand to stop raising your hand.
On your computer:
- Open the Zoom desktop app and sign in to your account.
- Join a meeting on the app.
- Click the Reactions option among the meeting controls at the bottom of the screen.
- Click the Raise hand option on the menu that appears.
Please note that the meeting host can lower your hand during the webinar whenever they want. Also, lowering your hand won’t mute you during the meeting when you have your microphone turned on.
