How To Play Thamuz In Mobile Legends
Last Updated: March 9, 2022
Fighters are often the best 1v1 heroes in Mobile Legends. However, Thamuz is an entirely different breed. He’s good in both 1v1 situations while also dealing massive AoE damage. Here’s everything you need to know to get you started playing the Lord Lava.
Gaming
Overview
Thamuz is a very strong fighter with a little bit of everything in his kit. He has excellent single target damage, good aoe damage, a blink, a buff, and some crowd control. He is one of the most versatile fighters out there and he can easily fit the needs of any team comps in the current meta. His crowd control is very disruptive while his sustain is incredible with his ultimate on. His wave clear is also really good and his mobility allows him to be great at chasing fleeing targets. It’s safe to say that Thamuz is a great hero and definitely one of the best fighters in the game.
Despite everything he has going on for him, Thamuz has some weaknesses. The biggest knock on him is how susceptible he is to crowd control. While he is a fairly mobile hero, it’s not enough for him to dodge crowd control abilities being thrown around by his enemies. His sustain can also easily be countered by high damage DPS carries. Overall, Thamuz is a really good hero. Perfect for players who like playing aggressive and being able to solo carry games.
Abilities
Thamuz’s entire kit revolves around dealing damage. He has great AoE and single target damage that makes him a threat at all stages of the game.
Passive – Grand Lord Lava

Thamuz inflicts the Scorch Effect on enemies when dealing damage, which continuously deals 12 (+5% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage that can be stacked up to 3 times, lasting for 2,5 seconds. Each stack of Scorch effect increases its damage for 50%.
Thamuz gains 25% Movement Speed when his Molten Scythes are not with him.
Retrieving his scythes will strengthen his next Basic Attack within 5 seconds, causing him to leap to the target, dealing (+100% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage and slowing the target by 30% while generating a gush of lava beneath the target that explodes in 2 seconds, dealing 50 (+110% Total Physical Attack) points of True Damage.
Grand Lord Lava is the reason why Thamuz is such a great duelist. The Scorch effect from this passive increases his overall damage output. It can be great for harassing enemies in lane and whittling down their health. He gets a movement speed buff as well when he is using his first skill. To top it all off, he gets a bonus on his next basic attack right after retrieving his scythe.
First Skill – Molten Scythes

Thamuz tosses his scythes in a designated direction, after traveling for a certain distance or after hitting the first enemy unit, they will deal 150 / 180 / 210 / 240 / 270 / 300 (+60% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage to nearby enemies, slowing them by 30%, then scythes will stop ,continuously dealing 45 / 52 / 59 / 66 / 73 / 80 (+20% Extra Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage every 0.5 second and slightly moving forward , for up to 5 seconds.
After a period of time or distance, the scythes will return to Thamuz, dealing 150 / 180 / 210 / 240 / 270 / 300 (+60% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage and pulling enemies on its path. Thamuz will stop for a short period of time when casting this skill.
Molten Scythes is Thamuz’s primary damaging ability. It has decent range and will deal damage to everyone caught up in it. It also has a bit of crowd control which when utilized correctly, can interrupt channeling abilities. Use this ability to clear waves, poke enemies, and trade effectively.
Second Skill – Chasm Trample

Thamuz jumps to a designated area, dealing 230 / 255 / 280 / 305 / 330 / 355 (+80% Extra Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage and slowing enemies by 25% for 2 seconds when landing.
If his scythes are not with him, it will immediately return to him and reset the cooldown of Molten Scythes.
This is Thamuz’s primary mobility skill. You’ll be using this mostly as a gap closer to help you stick to your targets better. Remember to combo this ability with Molten Scythes so that you’ll maximize your damage output.
Ultimate – Cauterant Inferno

Thamuz spouts the lava restored in his body to deal 300 / 390 / 480 (+80% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage to nearby enemies and creates a cauterant atmosphere around him for 9 seconds, during which he will continuously deal 30 / 45 / 60 (+10% Extra Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage to nearby enemies every 0.5 second.
After casting this skill Thamuz will recover 2% / 2.5% / 3% of his maximum HP , during this skill he will also recover same amount of his HP with his Basic Attack ,his scythes or with his 2nd skill on hit and gaining 22% / 33% / 44% Extra Attack Speed during this skill’s duration.
Cauterant Inferno is the biggest reason why Thamuz can feel invincible when in a 1v1. It also lets him deal massive damage in a team fight. That’s not even the best part. The best part is that it gives a massive boost to Thamuz’s stats that makes him even stronger.
Builds

When it comes to items, all you need to remember is to build items that increases Thamuz’s sustained damage. Items that also increase durability are great on him. Thamuz is at his best when he can outsustain his enemies and last long enough to deal more damage. In fact, you actually only need two damage items to succeed as Thamuz. These core items are Bloodlust Axe and War Axe.
- Bloodlust Axe
+70 Physical ATK
+10% CD Reduction
+20% Spell Vamp
- War Axe
+35 Physical ATK
+550 HP
+10% CD Reduction
Unique Passive – Fighting Spirit: Dealing damage to enemies grants 9 Physical Attack and 3 Physical Penetration per second for 3s, to a max of 8 stacks (Marksmen/Mages/Supports only receive 33% of these stacked effects); also grants 15% Movement Speed at full stacks.
These two items are the go to for any fighter heroes. Just having both of them elevates Thamuz’s proficiency as a fighter and lets him carry games easily.
Useful Tips
- For your emblems, always take the Fighter set and you can go with either Festival of Blood or Unbending Will as your talent depending on your preference. Festival of Blood gives you Spell Vamp and massively boosts your sustain. Unbending Will, on the other hand, will give you bonus Physical Damage for every 1% of your HP lost, up to 12%. Festival of Blood is the safer pick but if you want to play aggressive, you can go for Unbending Will.
- For your battle spell, you can go with either Vengeance or Flicker. Vengeance deals return magic damage whenever you are hit with basic attacks from the enemy while Flicker is an all purpose utility spell that gives you another layer of mobility.
- Thamuz is at his best when he can stick to his enemies. As such, heroes that can hamper his mobility are his strongest counters. Heroes like Natalia, Franco, Kaja, Moskov, and Johnson can severely counter Thamuz’s playstyle.
