How To Play Singed In League Of Legends

Do you want to play a champion who punishes his enemies the more they chase after him? If you’re answering a resounding yes, Singed just might be the perfect champion for you. In this guide, we’ll show you everything you need to know to get you started playing the Mad Chemist.

Singed has a rather unique playstyle when compared to other champions. His whole kit revolves around dealing damage mostly by running around and being difficult to catch. This is a big reason why Singed has a lot of dedicated one trick mains. He’s just so different and refreshing. Playing him is very fun and can be a satisfying experience.

Champion Abilities

Like we’ve mentioned before, Singed’s playstyle is mostly running around enemies but it’s actually more than that. There’s a lot of nuances in his kit and would really test your macro skills and knowledge about the game.

Passive – Noxious Slipstream

Singed will draft off of nearby champions, gaining 20% Movement Speed for 2 seconds.

Not exactly the best passive in the game, but it’s an integral part of Singed’s kit. It synergizes well with his playstyle and when combined with his other abilities, makes him nearly uncatchable.

Q – Poison Trail

Toggle: Singed lays a poisonous trail that deals magic damage per second.

This is Singed’s signature ability and what he is best known for. When toggled, Singed releases a poisonous trail that damages everything caught in it. So when enemy champions try to chase you from behind, they’ll get caught up in the cloud and will receive damage. The damage may not seem like a lot but if you spend enough time in it, it’ll take a huge chunk out of your health.

W – Mega Adhesive

Singed leaves a sticky area on the ground for 3 seconds. Enemies in the area are slowed by 60% and grounded, prohibiting the use of Movement abilities. If Singed flings a target into the zone, it will root them.

A great crowd control tool. This makes it even harder for Singed to get caught or to escape. When enemies are caught in Mega Adhesive, you are practically guaranteed to escape or to catch up to your opponent.

E – Fling

Singed flings an enemy over his shoulder, dealing magic damage. Max 300 bonus damage against minions and monsters. If the target Singed flings lands in his Mega Adhesive, they are also rooted.

This has to be the most fun crowd control in the entire game. Singed will literally throw you behind him when you are in front of him. There’s not much complicated mechanics to learn here. This ability is great for initiating fights and setting up ganks for your team.

R – Insanity Potion

Singed drinks a potent brew of chemicals, granting him increased Ability Power, Armor, Magic Resistance, Movement Speed, Health Regen and Mana Regen for 25 seconds. While active, Poison Trail applies 40% Grievous Wounds for 1 second.

Singed’s ultimate is incredibly underrated. It basically buffs up all of his important stats plus, thanks to the recent changes, imbues Poison Trail with Grievous Wounds. It increases Singed’s overall damage output and makes him even harder to deal with. You’ll be running in circles around your enemies during team fights all while regenerating and soaking the damage they deal to you.

Runes and Item Builds

For item builds, your focus when playing as Singed should be to increase his damage, survivability, and movement speed. Keep these things in mind and you’ll have no problem deciding which items to get for him.

Starting Items

For your starting items, you should always go with a Corrupting Potion. This gives you enough sustain and a bit of extra damage to help you trade with your opponent in the early game. Doran’s Ring and Dark Seal are good alternatives as well but they leave you being a little vulnerable. They’re good picks when you find yourself in a winning matchup or are confident enough to play aggressively. If you’re unsure, you can never go wrong with a Corrupting Potion start.

Mythic Items

For your Mythic item, you have two choices. Whatever you choose should boil down on how you want to play the game. If you are your team’s frontline and would like more sustain as you deal damage, the best Mythic item for you is Riftmaker. Apart from it’s bonus omnivamp, it also deals increasing damage based on your opponent’s max health the longer a fight goes on. If you want straight up more DPS, the Mythic item you should purchase is Liandry’s Anguish. Either one is a good pick on Singed and like we’ve mentioned before, choose one depending on your playstyle.

Full Build

Singed is one of those champions who doesn’t need to rush their Mythic as their first item. When playing as Singed, the first item you should build are the second tier boots to help you with your movement speed. Plated Steelcaps are the best choice but Mercury’s Treads or even Boots of Swiftness are great picks depending on your matchup. Next, you should purchase Rylai’s Crystal Scepter for its bonus health, ability power, and its slow passive on damaging abilities. After these two items, only then will you purchase your Mythic item of choice. Next, go for Demonic Embrace for bonus health and percent health damage, Zhonya’s Hourglass for more damage and increased survivability, and then finish off your build with a Dead Man’s Plate for the armor and bonus move speed plus the basic attack enhancement.

Other Viable Items

There are plenty of other viable items on Singed depending on the situation. Morellonomicon is great for its bonus damage and anti healing properties, but is kind of redundant now that his ultimate gives him Grievous Wounds on Poison Trail. Banshee’s Veil is another great item that you can buy for its passive spell shield. Cosmic Drive gives you even more move speed and damage, while Force of Nature is a good alternative to Dead Man’s Plate when you’re against an AP heavy comp. We encourage you to try out different builds for Singed to see what works best for you.

For runes, you’ll go with the Precision tree and take Conqueror as your keystone. This increases your damage and sustain in extended fights which Singed excels at. Next, take Triumph for more sustain, Legend: Tenacity to better resist crowd control, and Last Stand for more damage when your health is low. For secondaries, take Taste of Blood and Ravenous Hunter to increase the healing you get from your damaging abilities. For rune shards, take double Adaptive Force and either Armor or Magic Resist depending on your matchup.

Useful Tips

  1. Poison Trail is very effective at farming minion waves and harassing your opponent. Use it in a way that will allow you to dominate the flow of whatever lane you’re in.
  2. Fling is a very great ability that can cause huge problems for your opponent. Try to throw your enemies toward your turrets to deal heavy damage.
  3. For your summoner spells, take Ghost and Teleport. These spells will increase your overall presence during team fights around the map.
