How To Play Leomord In Mobile Legends

Gaming

Overview

Leomord is a very underrated fighter. While the meta isn’t generally favorable to him, that shouldn’t discourage you from giving this hero a chance. Under the right hands, you can win and hard carry your team to victory while playing as Leomord. He has very good multi target damaging abilities, a dash, and a bit of crowd control. Which is why he can be good on either a side lane or in the Jungle.

When he gets a lead early on, he can be pretty hard to stop come the late game. For a fighter, he is a bit squishy though. But with the right items, emblems, and talent, he can be a really good pick even in unfavorable matchups. He also has a built in execute in his kit that makes him great for finishing off targets and securing jungle objectives like Lord and Turtle. Overall, Leomord is a great hero that you should look into if you want to play as a fighter with an amazing team fighting presence.

Abilities

Leomord’s skills are all about dealing damage. Most of his abilities have a decent area of effect so in the right circumstances, he will most likely hit more than one target. He also has pretty good burst damage and a single, but very effective, form of crowd control.

Passive – The Oath Keeper

Leomord’s Basic Attack deals guaranteed critical damage towards enemies with less than 30% HP.

Leomord’s passive is pretty straightforward. He can easily secure kills and objectives thanks to The Oath Keeper which guarantees a critical strike on low health targets.

First Skill – Momentum/Phantom Stomp

Human form – Momentum: Leomord immediately gains a shield that absorbs 150 / 180 / 210 / 240 / 270 / 300 (+150% Total Physical Attack) damage and charges his attack. After charging, Leomord deals 360 / 440 / 520 / 600 / 680 / 760 (+140% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage and slows enemies in the area by 40% for 1 second. Damage of this skill scales with charge time.

Use Again: Leomord releases his attack immediately.

Mounted state – Phantom Stomp: Barbiel leaps forward, dealing 300 / 360 / 420 / 480 / 540 / 600 (+120% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage to enemies in the area where he lands and slowing them by 60% for 1 second.

Leomord’s first ability is his primary source of damage. In human form, it takes a bit of time to charge but it is pretty powerful. It has decent range and gives you a shield while charging which is surprisingly useful in tight situations. In Mounted State, it deals a pretty good amount of burst damage while also slowing enemies hit by it by 60%. This opens up enough time for you or your teammates to follow up with crowd control or damage of their own.

Second Skill – Decimation Assault/Phantom Charge

Human form – Decimation Assault: Leomord quickly charges towards a designated location, dealing 300 / 320 / 340 / 360 / 380 / 400 (+50% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage to enemies along the way and slowing them down by 30% for 1 second.

Mounted state – Phantom Charge: Barbiel charges forward in a designated location, knocking back and dealing 300 / 320 / 340 / 360 / 380 / 400 (+50% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage to all enemies in the path.

This ability gives Leomord a good dash which he can use in a variety of ways. In human form, you’ll mostly be using this as a general mobility tool. The slow percentage is too low to make any sort of impact so you’ll be using this ability to escape or chase down targets. Things change when you’re in mounted state though. When in mounted state, you deal a knock back which can severely change the tides of team fights. You can use this to dive back lines and focus high priority targets or just force the enemy towards you and your teammates. This ability has a lot of uses but mainly you’ll be using it for escaping or initiating ganks, disrupting teamfights, and chasing down targets.

Ultimate – Phantom Steed

Leomord calls for Barbiel to rush into the battlefield, knocking back and dealing 350 / 450 / 550 (+100% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage to enemy units in his path, and slowing them by 35%.

If Barbiel comes in contact with Leomord, they will enter Mounted State for the next 15 seconds.

Mounted State: Leomord will convert Momentum and Decimation Assault into Phantom Stomp and Phantom Charge and he can cast Basic Attack within a circular area while moving. Leomord also increases his Movement Speed by 60 points as well as Physical & Magic Defense by 40 / 50 / 60 points.

Leomord’s ultimate is his strongest ability. It deals pretty good damage and can be super effective in team fights. But its biggest strength is unlocking Leomord’s mounted state. In this state, he gains access to new abilities that are stronger than his human form. He can also move around simultaneously while doing his basic attack that deals damage in a circular area.

Builds

Leomord is at his best when he fully commits to building physical damage items. Some survivability items would be great too since he likes to be in the thick of fights to be effective. Items that give him sustain, damage, and durability are the best items to build on him. You have plenty of options when it comes to which items to buy but out of all of them there are 3 essential items on Leomord. These 3 core items are Bloodlust Axe, War Axe, and Blade of the Heptaseas.

  • Bloodlust Axe

+70 Physical ATK

+10% CD Reduction

+20% Spell Vamp

  • War Axe

+35 Physical ATK
+550 HP
+10% CD Reduction

Unique Passive – Fighting Spirit: Dealing damage to enemies grants 9 Physical Attack and 3 Physical Penetration per second for 3s, to a max of 8 stacks (Marksmen/Mages/Supports only receive 33% of these stacked effects); also grants 15% Movement Speed at full stacks.

  • Blade of the Heptaseas

+250 HP

+70 Physical ATK

Unique Passive: +15 Physical PEN

Unique Passive – Ambush: If no damage is taken or dealt within 5s, the next Basic Attack will deal extra Physical Damage equal to 160 plus 40% Physical Attack, and inflict 40% slow effects upon the target for 1.5s.

All of these items work in synergy with Leomord’s kit to make him as effective as possible. Bloodlust Axe is a very great item because it gives Leomord Spell Vamp. Being an ability reliant hero, having this item greatly increases his sustain. War Axe improves Leomord’s already impressive damage in long sustained fights, while Blade of the Heptaseas further increases his burst.

Useful Tips

  1. For emblems, you can take either the Fighter set if you’re in a sidelane or the Assassin set if you’re jungling. When you take the Fighter set, go for Festival of Blood as your talent to increase your spell vamp. When taking the Assassin set, go for Killing Spree as your talent to gain HP and Movement Speed bonuses whenever you score a kill.
  2. For battle spells, take Sprint, Purify, or Retribution. Sprint is a great mobility spell to have on Leomord. Since he has a built in blink, this battle spell can help him stick to targets better. Purify is a good alternative as well since Leomord is pretty susceptible to crowd control. If you’re going to play as the jungler, always take Retribution to help you clear jungle camps faster and secure objectives like Lord or Turtle.
  3. Leomord can easily be countered by heroes with large amounts of crowd control and high mobility to easily dodge his skills. Thamuz, Martis, Chou, and Kaja are some strong counters against Leomord.
