How To Play LeBlanc In League Of Legends

Want to play a champion with a lot of burst damage and insane outplay potential? Want to single-handedly carry your game to victory without breaking a sweat? If yes, we might’ve found the perfect champion for you. In this guide, we’ll show you everything you need to know to get started playing LeBlanc.

Gaming

LeBlanc is one of the most popular champions in League of Legends. And with good reason. LeBlanc has one of the flashiest playstyle in the game and has proven she can carry games with ease. She’s built to be the strongest AP assassin around and a nightmare for the opposing team’s carries. Let’s take a closer look at her kit and what makes her such a strong champion.

Champion Abilities

LeBlanc’s kit revolves around dealing as much damage as possible in a very short amount of time. She’s the very definition of a burst mage. While most mages are immobile, LeBlanc has some pretty insane mobility thanks to her kit. She can dip in and out of the opponent’s backline to one shot their carries and make a quick getaway. Her kit is pretty straightforward and easy to understand, however, learning how to combo them properly is the key to mastering her.

Passive – Mirror Image

When LeBlanc drops below 40% health, she becomes invisible for 1 second and creates a Mirror Image that deals no damage and lasts for up to 8 seconds.

Nothing too special about LeBlanc’s passive. Mirror Image is definitely useful for playing mind games on your opponent, using it as a distraction while planning a flank or an escape.

Q – Sigil of Malice

LeBlanc projects a sigil onto an enemy, dealing magic damage and marking them for 3.5 seconds. Damaging the marked enemy with an ability detonates the sigil dealing more magic damage.

This is where most of LeBlanc’s burst comes from. It has great AP scaling and deals insane damage to marked enemies. Max this ability first.

W – Distortion

LeBlanc dashes then deals magic damage to nearby enemies. For 4 seconds after dashing, LeBlanc can recast this ability and she returns to her starting location.

This is what makes LeBlanc one of the best assassins in the game. It’s because of this ability that she can go in and out of team fights while deleting the enemy team’s carries. This is her main mobility tool and enables her to make some pretty insane outplays. Not to mention, it makes her pretty slippery and hard to chase.

E – Ethereal Chains

LeBlanc launches a chain that shackles the first enemy hit, dealing magic damage and granting True Sight. If they remain shackled for 1.5 seconds, LeBlanc roots them for 1.5 seconds and deals additional magic damage.

LeBlanc’s only form of crowd control. It’s tricky to land, sure, but that 1.5 second root is nothing to scoff at. It deals pretty decent damage as well. Use it wisely.

R – Mimic

LeBlanc mimics her most recent ability, using it again. The mimicked ability deals increased damage.

Her ultimate is pretty simple but hard to master. You need to have the presence of mind and be aware of what abilities you recently used. With all the combos LeBlanc can do, that can be pretty hard to keep track of. Nevertheless, it’s because of this ability that makes LeBlanc hit pretty hard as a mage.

Runes and Item Builds

LeBlanc has a pretty straightforward build path. Just keep building Ability Power items with a dash of survivability to maximize her kit.

Starting Items

For your starting items, you should ideally take a Corrupting Potion. LeBlanc has a very weak laning phase so taking it should help you sustain. Another viable option is to go with a Doran’s Ring and a couple of Health Potions. This allows you to be a little aggressive when trading with your opponent. Plus the mana it restores is pretty solid. The last option is to take a Dark Seal with some Health Potions or a Refillable Potion. This lets you be super aggressive since Dark Seal’s ability power increases with each kill however it doesn’t have the sustain the other two starting item sets can provide. Use this only if you’re confident that you can win your lane.

Mythic Items

LeBlanc has a lot of choices for her Mythic Item. The best choice is Luden’s Echo since it has all the stats you need from mana to ability power and even has a little bit of magic penetration. It’s passive also synergizes well with your kit giving it additional burst. The next best choice is Hextech Rocketbelt, since it gives you additional mobility that can allow you to reach high priority targets easier during team fights. Night Harvester is also a pretty solid choice but isn’t as good as the first two items. Everfrost is the last viable Mythic Item for LeBlanc since it has great stats as well. You lose some of the burst damage from the previous items but it gives you an active stun that can be useful in certain situations.

Full Build

Once you’ve chosen your Mythic Item, you should work towards getting a Zhonya’s Hourglass and a Rabadon’s Deathcap. These two items will help you survive and deal more damage. For boots, take Sorcerer’s Shoes for the magic penetration. Next, go for a Morellonomicon for those pesky healing champions and top it all off with a Void Staff for more magic penetration. Your full build should look something like this:

Runes

LeBlanc’s runes are pretty much the same for every situation. Go with Domination as your primary path and take Electrocute as your keystone. Electrocute allows your combos to hit harder thanks to its burst damage. Next take Taste of Blood, Eyeball Collection, and Ravenous Hunter. All these increase LeBlanc’s damage and cover up her weaknesses. For secondaries, take Biscuit Delivery and  Time Warp Tonic from the Inspiration tree to help you sustain in the early game.

Useful Tips

  1. A lot of new LeBlanc players tend to underestimate the damage she does. Once you get your Mythic Item, you can actually start abusing your lane opponent. Don’t be afraid to go all in when you feel like you can one shot your enemy.
  2. Make the most out of Distortion to position yourself and be aggressive with the use of your other abilities.
  3. Galio and Annie can counter you hard so make sure you ban these champions before the game starts. Galio is a tank that’s built to counter mages while Annie has a ton of burst in her abilities and CC that can stop LeBlanc in her tracks.
  4. For summoner spells, always take Flash and Ignite. If you’re up against a very mobile assassin, you can swap out Ignite with Exhaust.
