How To Play LeBlanc In League Of Legends

Are you interested in playing one of the most mobile mages in the game? Do you like playing burst mages/assassins? Do you want to outplay your opponents with style and flair? Then you came to the right place! In this guide, we’ll show you everything you need to know to get you started playing LeBlanc, the Deceiver.

Gaming

LeBlanc is one of the strongest carry champions in League of Legends. She can easily snowball from a lead with only 1 or 2 kills. Once she gets her Mythic item early on, she can be very difficult to deal with especially under skilled hands. She has a somewhat complete kit for a burst mage/assassin. She has a gap closer/escape, wave clear, crowd control, and single target burst damage. She’s a huge threat in every game she’s in and her ability to score kills very quickly and easily makes her a strong carry champion.

Abilities

As we’ve mentioned before, LeBlanc’s kit has a little bit of everything that she needs as a mage/assassin.

Passive – Mirror Image

When LeBlanc drops below 40% Health, she becomes invisible for 1 second and creates a Mirror Image that deals no damage and lasts for up to 8 seconds. Mirror Image has a 1 minute cooldown.

This is a very fun passive that you can use to outplay your opponents. Basically, Mirror Image does what it sounds like it does: giving you a clone. The Mirror Image of LeBlanc moves in a different direction and you can use this creatively to your advantage.

Q – Sigil of Malice

LeBlanc projects a sigil, dealing magic damage and marking the target for 3.5 seconds. Damaging the marked target with an ability detonates the sigil, dealing magic damage.

This is LeBlanc’s bread and butter ability. Sigil of Malice is your source of single target burst damage. Whenever you’re trading with an enemy, try to make sure that you use this first so that you can mark them and make the most out of your damage.

W – Distortion

Dashes to target location, dealing magic damage to enemies in the target area. For the next 4 seconds, she can activate Distortion again to return to her starting location.

Distortion is your main mobility and wave clear ability. There’s lots of ways you can use this ability. The best way to use it is to close the gap between you and your target with correct positioning. The burst from this ability and Sigil of Malice can be enough to one shot targets.

E – Ethereal Chains

Launches a chain that shackles the first unit hit to LeBlanc, dealing magic damage and granting True Sight of the target. If the target remains shackled for 1.5 seconds, LeBlanc roots them for 1.5 seconds, deals additional magic damage, and grants

This is LeBlanc’s only source of crowd control. It can be difficult to land but if you do, it’s pretty much a guaranteed kill thanks to the 1.5 second root. It’s a great ability to practice and master in order to help you lock down targets.

R – Mimic

LeBlanc mimics her most recent spell, casting it again. Mimicked Sigil of Malice and Ethereal Chains deal additional damage, plus additional damage from their mark and root, respectively. Mimicked Distortion deals additional magic damage.

Mimic can be a tricky ability to use since you have to be aware of the last ability you used before it. You must first understand what each mimicked version of LeBlanc’s abilities to make the most out of it.

Runes and Item Builds

When it comes to items, your sole focus on LeBlanc should be to increase her overall damage by building ability power items.

Starting Items

For your starting items, the best choice is to go for a Corrupting Potion. This gives you sustain for the early game and lets you play a bit more aggressive. However, if you plan on playing it safe, go with Doran’s Ring instead.

Mythic Item

For your Mythic item, you have two great options: Luden’s Tempest or Crown of the Shattered Queen. Luden’s Tempest is the go to Mythic on LeBlanc since it increases her overall burst damage output. Crown of the Shattered Queen, on the other hand, increases her survivability making it easier for her to dive the enemy team’s backline.

Full Build

After purchasing your desired Mythic, upgrade into tier 2 boots. Since LeBlanc is a mage, go for Sorcerer’s Shoes. Next, go with Shadowflame to increase your health, damage, and it allows you to deal a percentage of your target’s health as bonus damage. Up next, you’ll need Mejai’s Soulstealer for all the bonus ability power it provides to help you further snowball into a carry. At this point in the game, you’ll need Zhonya’s Hourglass to give you a bit of survivability. Finally, top off your build with Void Staff to increase your magic penetration.

Runes

For runes, go with the Domination tree and take Electrocute as your keystone. This will increase your burst and overall damage output. Next, take Taste of Blood for the heal, Eyeball Collection for bonus damage, and Treasure Hunter for the bonus gold. For your secondaries, go with Biscuit Delivery and Time Warp Tonic from the Inspiration tree. This will give you enough sustain to make it out of the early game. For rune shards, take Attack Speed, Adaptive Force, and Magic Resist.

Useful Tips

  1. You can control where your Mirror Image will go by pressing Alt + Right Mouse Button. This can lead to a lot of jukes and when combined with Distortion can be a great way to escape sticky situations.
  2. LeBlanc is countered by Malzahar, Akshan, Anivia, Zed, and Vex. If you’re matched up against these champions, try to play it safe instead of being aggressive.
  3. For your summoner spells, take Flash and Ignite to give you more utility and to help you secure early leads. If you want to play it safe, you can swap out Ignite for Heal, Barrier, or Cleanse.
