How To Play Harley In Mobile Legends
Last Updated: February 16, 2022
Harley is one of the best Junglers in Mobile Legends. He deals a high amount of magic damage, has good mobility, and can effectively finish off targets. Here’s everything you need to know to get you started playing the Mage Genius.
In the current meta, games are played at a faster pace. Speed is the game and players are constantly rushing to capitalize on leads and secure the win. No other Mage/Jungler embodies this philosophy than Harley. His patented blend of mobility burst damage makes sure that he can pop in a fight, deal damage, secure a kill, and leave unscathed. He also has a relatively easy to understand kit which explains why he is such a popular pick. Harley has great clear speed, excellent mobility, very fast cooldowns, huge burst damage, and great kiting abilities.
Like most heroes, Harley has his own weaknesses. The biggest one is the fact that he is very squishy. Being a mage, you need to prioritize buying Magic Power items over defensive items. Although the mobility in his kit can offset some of the issues with his durability, it is still not enough when pitted against a hero that can effectively stick to him or hold him in place. He is also pretty mana hungry and can be quite useless before he gets his ultimate. Overall, Harley is still a very good Jungler to use in Mobile Legends. The key thing to understand here is to make sure that you eliminate and focus down their carries first before anything else in a team fight.
Harley’s kit is geared around his mobility. He has very excellent mobility that he can dive the opponent’s backline and take out high priority targets thanks to his burst damage.
Passive – Magic Master
Harley’s Basic Attack is modified to deal 60 (+50% Physical Attack) (+60% Magic Power) Magic Damage.
Whenever Harley damages an enemy, he will also reduce the enemy’s Magic Defense by 2 points for 3 seconds, with the maximum stack limit up to 10 times.
This is a great ability to have on a hero like Harley. It further adds to his damage thanks to the bonus from his Magic Power and Physical Attack. It also reduced the target’s Magic Defense for up to 20 points when fully stacked.
First Skill – Poker Trick
Harley shoots 3 / 3 / 4 / 4 / 5 / 5 rounds of 3 cards forward, dealing 130 / 146 / 162 / 178 / 194 / 210 (+25% Magic Power) Magic Damage on first enemy hit and increasing his attack speed by 10%, stacking up to 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9 / 10 or a maximum 40% / 40% / 45% / 45% / 50% / 50% Attack Speed for 3 seconds.
This is Harley’s primary damaging ability and what players usually associate when thinking of this hero. Poker Trick is a great source of wave clear and is pretty spammable. It deals great damage and can be used while Harley is walking. This is your go to damage ability whenever you want to harass your opponents or when ganking other lanes.
Second Skill – Space Escape
Harley teleports to a designated direction, leaving a magic hat at his place and increasing his movement speed by 30% for 2 seconds.
Use again within 4 seconds to return to where the hat is.
Space Escape is what makes Harley extremely mobile. He basically blinks to a target direction and within 4 seconds, he can return to where he first activated the ability. This opens up a lot of outplay opportunities and lets him basically go in and out of fights at will.
Ultimate – Deadly Magic
Harley shoots a magic fire ring to a designated enemy hero (can be blocked by other heroes), dealing 200 / 300 / 400 (+60% Magic Power) Magic Damage and slowing by 40% for 1.5 seconds. The ring remains for 4 seconds for which Harley can deal damage by hitting the ring with his skills.
At the end of the duration, the ring deals 100 / 150 / 200 (+30% Magic Power) (+50% of the damage dealt during the ring’s duration) Magic Damage.
Harley’s ultimate is his biggest source of burst damage. This essentially doubles the amount of damage he deals whenever he casts it. Use this ability on high priority targets on the enemy team to easily take them out of the fight.
When it comes to builds, your primary focus would be to increase Harley’s Magic Power to make his burst damage more powerful. Items that increase his Magic Penetration are also great on him since it synergizes well with his passive’s ability to shave off points from the target’s Magic Defense. You’ll more or less be running similar builds but we consider 3 items essential on Harley no matter what the build path you decide to go with. These core items are Genius Wand, Holy Crystal, and Divine Glaive.
- Genius Wand
+75 Magic Power
+5% Movement SPD
Unique Passive: +10 Magic PEN
Unique Passive – Magic: Dealing damage to enemy heroes will reduce their Magic Defense by 2~9 for 2s (the Defense reduction scales with level). Stacks up to 3 times.
- Holy Crystal
+100 Magic Power
Unique Passive – Mystery: Increases Magic Power by 21%~35% (Scales with level).
- Divine Glaive
+65 Magic Power
Unique Passive: +35% Magic PEN
Unique Passive – Spellbreaker: Each point of the enemy’s Magic Defense increases Magic Penetration by 0.1% when dealing damage to it, capped at 20%.
All these items increase Harley’s effectiveness as a Mage core hero. Having these three items can instantly boost his overall damage and lets him do his job better.
- For your emblems, go with the Mage set and take Magic Worship as your talent. Magic Worship lets you burn enemies 3 times for 82-250 Magic Damage whenever you deal damage greater than 7% of the target’s max HP for 3 times within 5 seconds.
- For your battle spell, take Retribution if you’re going to play in the Jungle and Flicker if you’re playing in the Mid Lane. Retribution allows you to clear jungle camps faster while also securing buffs and objectives like Lord or Turtle. Flicker is an all purpose utility spell that gives you an additional form of mobility.
- Harley is countered by heroes that can effectively pin him down and reduce his mobility. Heroes like Diggie, Kaja, Nana, Zilong, and Karina are strong counters against Harley.
