How To Play Claude In Mobile Legends
Last Updated: February 6, 2022
Claude is one of the most popular marksmen in Mobile Legends. It’s easy to see why. Here’s everything you need to know to get you started playing the Master Thief.
Marksmen are a class of heroes in Mobile Legends known for their DPS and being considerably less durable than other champions. Most marksmen rely on a support hero to compliment their playstyle. Which is why a hero like Claude is very unique. He is one of the most self-sustaining marksmen in the game. He has everything you need to help carry a game. In fact, it doesn’t take too long before Claude gets going. You only really need two items to start making your presence felt in games. With his combination of high attack speed and mobility, he is best used as a Jungler. This also ensures that he gets a bit more gold and experience than when in a side lane. This is important because Claude is a vey item reliant hero. Without his items, he is practically useless. Apart from that, Claude has very few weaknesses. Overall, he is a reliable hero that you can use to carry your team while having fun with his playstyle.
Claude’s abilities make him a very good carry. He has a slow that also buffs his movement speed and attack speed, a mobility spell that deals damage, and an aoe ultimate that can burst down squishier heroes.
Passive – Battle Side-by-side
Dexter assists Claude in battle, dealing an additional Basic Attack that inherits 20+(35% of Claude’s Basic Attack) and its effects whenever Claude launches a Basic Attack.
Claude implores the help of his little monkey friend, Dexter, to deal bonus damage whenever he attacks. This is a great passive to have on a hero like Claude because it massively increases his DPS. He basically gets to attack twice on the same basic attack while also retaining the effects he gets from items.
First Skill – Art of Thievery
Claude attacks enemies in a frontal cone, dealing 160 / 185 / 210 / 235 / 260 / 285 (+50% Total Physical Attack) points of Physical Damage and reducing their Movement Speed by 20% / 20% / 25% / 25% / 30% / 30% and Attack Speed by 10% / 12% / 14% / 16% / 18% / 20%.
Claude gains a stack of Art of Thievery each time this skill hits a creep or a minion, and 2 stacks when it hits an enemy hero. Each stack increases his Movement Speed and Attack Speed by 4 / 4.6 / 5.2 / 5.8 / 6.4 / 7% for 6 seconds, stacking up to 5 times or 20 / 23 / 26 / 29 / 32 / 35%.
Claude’s first skill is pretty straightforward. It deals damage in a cone, reduces enemy movement speed, and when stacked, gives him bonus movement and attack speed. Overall, a great ability to have. You’ll mostly be using this to harass opponents or to make sure they stay in front of you whenever you use your ultimate.
Second Skill – Battle Mirror Image
Claude leaves a Mirror Image of Dexter at a designated location and Claude can activate the skill again to switch places with the Mirror Image 2 more times within 5.5 seconds before going into cooldown.
Dexter’s Mirror Image automatically attacks enemies in its range, and inherits 20+(35% of Claude’s Basic Attack) damage and its effects.
This is Claude’s primary damaging ability and his main form of mobility. There’s a lot of ways you can use this ability. You can use it to poke enemies when you’re in lane or you can use it to initiate fights whenever you gank while jungling. If you’re quick enough, you can actually switch places with the Mirror Image twice.
Ultimate – Blazing Duet
Claude and (Dexter) rapidly fire at the enemies nearby over 3s, dealing 100( +10% Total Physical ATK) (Physical Damage) to up to two targets each time they shoot. This skill benefits from Claude’s Basic Attack effects and grants him a shield that can absorb 20( +3% Total Physical ATK) damage. The rate of fire increases with bonus ATK Speed. Minions take 300% damage.
Claude’s ultimate makes him a great hero in teamfights. It deals a lot of damage and even applies on hit effects he gets from items. Add to the fact that it also gives him a shield, makes this a very potent ability to easily take out your enemies in every situation.
When it comes to builds, your focus should be to enhance the damage on Claude’s basic attacks. He is a hero that deals most of his damage through his basic attacks. Even the projectiles from his ultimate are considered as such. Aside from these, attack speed and survivability are also key stats that you need to focus on when deciding which items to build for Claude. While there are plenty of options to do this, there are three core items that you need on every build for Claude. These are Demon Hunter Sword, Golden Staff, and Wind of Nature.
- Demon Hunter Sword
+35 Physical ATK
+25% Attack Speed
Unique Passive – Devour: Basic attacks deal 9% of the target’s current HP as additional physical damage (up to 60 against creeps and minions).
Unique Passive – Devour: Each Basic Attack grants 3% Physical Lifesteal for 3s. Stacks up to 5 times.
- Golden Staff
+65 Physical ATK
+15% Attack Speed
Unique Passive – Swift: Unable to increase critical chance. Every 1% of critical chance gained will increase attack speed by 1%.
Unique Passive – Endless Strike: After every 2 non-critical Basic Attacks. Attack Speed of the next Basic Attack is increased by 100% and its effect is triggered an extra 2 time(s).
- Wind of Nature
+30 Physical ATK
+20% Attack Speed
+10% Physical Lifesteal
Unique Passive – Wind Chant: Immune to all Physical Damage. Last 2s. (Duration becomes half when used by non-marksmen). CD 70s.
These items all enhance Claude’s attack speed which is why they’re a must have on every build you decide to run. They also enhance his basic attacks with on hit effects so they’re guaranteed to increase his damage as well.
- For emblems, you can take either the Assassin or Marksman set. When you’re a Jungler, you’ll be better off taking the Assassin set with Bounty Hunter as your talent. This will increase the amount of gold you receive and helps you get your items faster. If you’re playing in a side lane, you should run with the Marksman set and take Electro Flash as your talent. This talent allows you to slow heroes with your basic attacks while restoring a small portion of your HP.
- For your battle spell, take Retribution if you’re jungling and Flicker or Purify if you’re in a lane. Retribution allows you to clear jungle camps faster and secure objectives like Turtle or Lord. Flicker or Purify, on the other hand, will give Claude another form of mobility and can protect him from being ganked.
- Claude is weak against heroes that can damage him before he can unleash his abilities. He is also countered by heroes that can stick to him or heroes that can deal a huge burst of damage from afar. Alucard, Zilong, Lesley, Saber, and Odette are examples of heroes that can hard counter Claude.
