How To Play Brody In Mobile Legends
Last Updated: March 15, 2022
Tired of the typical marksman in Mobile Legends? Looking for a new hero that can carry games while introducing a different kind of playstyle? We’ve got you covered! Brody is a very unconventional marksman that challenges the conventions of the role. Here’s everything that you need to know to get you started playing the Lone Star.
Gaming
Overview
Marksmen are usually very one note heroes. All you do is build attack speed items and dish out DPS while maintaining a safe distance. While Brody is very much a marksman in terms of damage, his playstyle is very different. You see, most marksmen like to reposition themselves a lot while trying to be away from the enemies range. Brody is a hero that rewards players for remaining mobile and sticking pretty close to his targets. His ability to walk while dishing out basic attacks help a lot in this regard. The biggest draw to this hero is his insane multi target burst damage. He has a fairly decent range and his ability to 1v1 most heroes is pretty damn good.
Despite what he has going for him, Brody has a few weaknesses. The biggest knock on this hero is his slow attack speed. Most marksmen pride themselves on their superior attack speed which they use to deal massive DPS. His slow attack speed makes it difficult to farm in lane. He is also dependent on the stacks from his passive to deal a lot of damage. Additionally, he falls off in damage later on in the game. Overall, Brody is still a very strong marksman that can lead a team to victory before they can even reach the late game. If you master his unique playstyle and learn to play through his limitations, you’ll be rewarded with a solid marksman that can hard carry a team and force a win.
Abilities
Brody’s entire kit is all about dealing damage. Being a marksman, he doesn’t have much in terms of attack speed but his burst damage is strong enough that it propels him to the upper tier of the class.
Passive – Abyss Corrosion

With his Basic Attacks resonating with the Abyss Power within his body, Brody is able to move while winding up his Basic Attacks (which will be interrupted when casting skills), at the cost of having longer Basic Attack Animation and lower Attack Speed Bonus. Each Basic Attack deals ( +140% Total Physical ATK) ( (+35*Hero Level)) (Physical Damage) (of which the damage scaling with level cannot be critical), increases Movement Speed by 30% (which will decay rapidly in 1.2s), and inflicts 1 stack of (Abyss Mark) on the enemy, capped at 4 stacks. Each stack of (Abyss Mark) increases Brody’s damage against the target by 5% and his Movement Speed by 5%.
Brody is very reliant on his passive, Abyss Corrosion. This is the main reason why his basic attack is pretty slow but it is also what makes them hit really hard. Each of his attacks deals pretty significant damage while also slowing the enemy and applying a stack of Abyss Mark.
First Skill – Abyss Impact

Brody launches a shock wave in the designated direction, dealing 150 / 230 / 310 / 390 / 470 / 550 (+170% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage, slowing the enemies by 30% for 1.2 seconds, and applying 1 stack of Abyss Mark.
As the shock wave travels, for each enemy it hits, it deals an extra 10% damage, inflicts 5% extra slow effect, and applies an additional stack of Abyss Mark, capped at 130% (or 195 / 299 / 403 / 507 / 611 / 715 (+221% Total Physical Attack)) damage, 45% slow effect, and 4 stacks. This skill deals only 80% damage to Minions.
This is Brody’s main damaging ability. Abyss Impact deals a ton of damage to targets it hits. It also applies a slow while also applying an additional stack of Abyss Mark. This is your bread and butter and you’ll be spamming this ability a lot to clear minion waves or to harass opponents when they try to hide behind minions.
Second Skill – Corrosive Strike

Brody dashes to an enemy, dealing 200 / 237.5 / 275 / 312.5 / 350 (+70% Total Physical Physical Attack) Physical Damage to the target, stunning the target for 0.8 seconds, and inflicting 1 stack of Abyss Mark on the enemy.
Upon hitting the target, he is able to move one more time in the movement direction, gaining 45% Movement Speed that will decay rapidly in 1.2 seconds.
This is Brody’s main form of mobility. Corrosive Strike lets him dash to an enemy while also stunning them. It is a great ability that lets Brody be a self-sustaining marksman that doesn’t need to be babysat by a support.
Ultimate – Torn-Apart Memory

Brody locks on all the targets within 8 yard(s), dealing 340 / 460 / 580 (+180% Extra Physical Attack) Physical Damage to them.
If the target has an Abyss Mark, all Abyss Marks will be reset, dealing Physical Damage equal to 136 / 184 / 232 (+72% Extra Physical Attack) plus 4% / 5% / 6% of the target’s lost HP for each stack the target has.
This is an excellent burst damage skill. Torn-Apart Memory deals damage to all surrounding targets in Brody’s vicinity while proccing the effects of Abyss Mark.
The less HP your enemy targets have, the more damage this deals to them.
Builds

When it comes to items, there are plenty of different builds you can go with Brody. A general rule of thumb is to go for raw damage items that increase your Physical Attack. Some attack speed items would also work well but keep in mind that you’ll be buying them because of the bonuses it gives to your basic attacks. No matter what build path you choose, there are two items that you should always incorporate into your builds. These core items are Blade of Despair and Hunter Strike.
- Blade of Despair
+160 Physical ATK
+5% Movement SPD
Unique Passive – Despair: Attacking enemy units that have HP below 50% will increase the hero’s Physical Attack by 25%. Lasts 2s. (Takes affect before damage is dealt).
- Hunter Strike
+80 Physical ATK
+10% CD Reduction
Unique Passive: +15 Physical PEN
Unique Passive – Retribution: Deals damage to an enemy hero or Creep for 5 times in a row and improves Movement Speed by 50% that decays rapidly over 3s. This effect has 8s cooldown.
Both these items are perfect for Brody since they increase his overall damage output. The bonus passives from these items let him finish off targets easily while remaining fairly mobile thanks to all the movement speed boosts.
Useful Tips
- For emblems, go with the Assassin set and take Killing Spree as your talent. This will allow you to restore some of your health while gaining a movement speed boost whenever you score a kill on an enemy.
- For your battle spell, take either Retribution or Flicker. If you’re playing as a jungler, take Retribution. This will allow you to clear jungle camps faster and let you secure objectives like Lord or Turtle. Otherwise, take Flicker for additional mobility.
- Brody is a fairly mobile marksman. However, speedy assassins that can easily burst him down can counter his effectiveness. Heroes like Saber, Chou, Natalia, Lancelot, Hayabusa, and Ling all possess abilities that can severely counter this hero.
