Last Updated: October 5, 2021
Still haven’t decided which of the eligible romantic partners in Stardew Valley you want to marry? Why not pursue Abigail? In this guide, we’ll show you how to win Abigail’s heart and why she’s the best girl in the entire game.
Gaming
Who is Abigail?

Birthday: Fall 13
If you’ve ever been to the General Store, you’ve probably gotten a glimpse of a purple haired girl hanging around. That’s Abigail, the daughter of Pierre and Caroline. She fits the mold of that classic shy quirky girl trope we’re all familiar with. She is currently a college student and has a pet guinea pig named David.
If that wasn’t enough to make you fall in love with her, she’s also a gamer and if you manage to go into her room, you’ll see that she has a console that strongly resembles a Super Nintendo. She also has one of the best story arcs in the game that will surely leave you feeling inspired.
Schedule

Abigail is very outgoing and adventurous. She likes to hang out with her friends, Sam and Sebastian so you won’t really find her staying at home a lot. That being said, she has one of the more complicated schedules out of all the marriage candidates.

As you can see, Abigail has a lot of deviations in her schedule. It can get a little confusing at first, but once you get used to it you can easily find her at her usual spots.
Gifts

Who doesn’t love to receive gifts, right? Just like any other resident of Stardew Valley, the way to Abigail’s heart is by giving her gifts. Each person has their own set of gifts that they either love, like, feel neutral about, dislike, or hate. Get them gifts they love or like and you’ll easily win over their affection. When it comes to Abigail’s Loves and Likes, they’re kind of both easy and hard to obtain.

The best time to give Abigail gifts is during the Fall season. Two of her loved items, Pumpkins and Blackberry Cobblers, are easily obtainable during this season. Most of her loved items are pretty hard to come by so it might take you a little more time before you can fully max out your friendship hearts with Abigail.
Heart Events

Every time you reach a certain level of hearts with a marriage candidate, you’ll trigger little cutscenes called Heart Events. These are pieces of stories that give more depth to the character you are romancing and sometimes give you dialogue or action choices that can increase or decrease your friendship level with these characters.
Two Hearts
Enter Pierre’s General Store whenever Abigail is there, any day except Saturday. Abigail will play the console version of Journey to the Prairie King with you. She’ll thank you for playing with her even if you lose in the game. Your friendship points will be unaffected.
Four Hearts
Visit the mountain between 12:00 PM and 7:00 PM on a rainy day, any season except Winter. You see Abigail playing her flute. She asks what you’re doing out in the rain.
- “Just doing some work.” (No effect on friendship.)
- “Enjoying the weather.” (+50 friendship points)
- “I could ask you the same question.” (+10 friendship points)
Regardless of your response, she invites you to stand under the tree with her. You pull out a harp and you play a duet as the camera pans out over the lake.
Six Hearts
Between 9:00 PM and 12:00 AM on a day when it is not raining, enter Pelican Town from any direction. You’ll see Abigail at the graveyard. She tells you that she’s been practicing with her sword because she wants to go on adventures. She asks if you’ve ever used a sword.
- “Yes, and it’s exciting!” (+10 friendship points)
- “Yes, but only in self-defense.” (+10 friendship points)
- “Yes, but it’s dangerous. You should stay safe.” (-100 friendship points)
- “No.” (No effect on friendship.)
Pierre arrives and interrupts to say that Caroline wants her to come help cook dinner. Abigail gets angry, saying they only expect her to help cook because she’s a girl. She flees, calling for you to follow. You both hide in some bushes and talk. After talking she will ask you to help her untangle her hair from the bush, and the cutscene ends.
Eight Hearts
After receiving a letter from Abigail, enter Pierre’s General Store between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM when she’s there. Abigail sends you a letter (signed “Abby”) inviting you to visit her in her room. When you arrive, Abigail shows you her spirit board. It reveals a message that indicates she’s starting to develop feelings for you. She gets embarrassed and rushes you out of her room. Regardless of how you entered the store, you will end up outside. The next day she visits you in the morning and apologizes.
Ten Hearts
After you give Abigail a Bouquet, enter the mines or the Quarry Mine between 5:00 PM and 12:00 AM. The event won’t trigger if you’ve already given her the Mermaid’s Pendant.
Abigail is preparing to go down the ladder into the mine when she’s startled by a bat flying up into her face. She laughs it off and looks back down the hole. Hundreds more bats fly up and she’s terrified, running to cower in the corner of the cave. You rush in to comfort her.
- “What happened?” (+20 friendship points)
- “Are you okay?” (+40 friendship points)
She tells you that maybe she isn’t as tough as she thought.
- “You’re safe with me.” (+20 friendship points)
- “I get scared too.” (+40 friendship points)
- “You’re crying like a little baby. Stop.” (-50 friendship points)
She confesses that she likes you as more than a friend, and asks you to stay with her there. She hugs you. If your character is a girl, she will also state that she didn’t know she liked other girls until she met you.
Getting Married

We should note that you need to give your desired partner a Bouquet before you can reach Ten Hearts. This can be bought from Pierre’s General Store for 200g anytime you reach 8 hearts with a marriage candidate. As soon as you’ve maxed out the hearts, you can now purchase a Mermaid Pendant to officially ask your desired partner to marry you. This is available for purchase from the Old Mariner located at the beach beyond the bridge. He’ll only be there before 7:00 PM and will only appear during rainy days. You’ll also need to upgrade your Farmhouse at least once so that you can marry someone.
Once you and Abigail are married, she’ll move into the Farmhouse and set up a little area behind the house where she’ll sometimes go to practice her flute. She’ll also bring over a new guinea pig with her named David Jr. The best part about being married to Abigail is that she’ll give you a lot of useful items from time to time. She can give you rare items that you can use to craft certain equipment like Solar Essence, Bat Wing, Void Essence, Amethyst, or Fire Quartz. She’ll also sometimes give you items that’ll help you in the mines like Bombs, Cherry Bombs, and Fried Mushrooms.
Fun Facts

- Abigail seems to be a big fan of the critically acclaimed RPG Chrono Cross since she has a poster of the game’s main character, Crono, above her TV.
- There’s a conspiracy theory going around that Pierre is not the biological father of Abigail and that her real father is actually the Wizard, who actually believes that he might have a daughter among the townsfolk. Her mom, Caroline, even said that she used to take “secret walks” to the Wizard’s Tower, adding fuel to the theory.
- Whenever you give Abigail something she likes, she always implies that she’s going to eat it even if the item is inedible like Diamonds.
