How To Make Wine In Stardew Valley
Last Updated: August 27, 2021
Did you know that selling wine is one of the biggest money makers in Stardew Valley? In this guide, we’ll show you how to make wine and increase your profits even more.
There are plenty of ways to make money in Stardew Valley. You can grow crops, catch fish, or even move dairy products. But one understated way to inject money into your farm is by selling Wine.
What is Wine?
Wine is an artisan good made from a Keg. You can use any fruit in the game to make wine which you can sell for a very high price. The wine’s price depends on the fruit used to make it (3 x Base Fruit Value) and how long it’s been aged. Just like in real life, aged wine is finer and has more value.
What is Wine For?
While wine does have its uses, you’ll primarily be using it to earn money. Wine is one of the highest priced items in the game making it very profitable if sold. You can use a Cask to age your wine to increase its value.
If you drink wine, it can heal some of your health and energy for a considerable amount. How much health and energy it restores depends on the quality or rarity of the wine. But, be warned, wine is an alcoholic drink. So when you drink it in game, you get Tipsy. When your character is tipsy, you’ll lose 1 movement speed.
On top of these, wine can also be given as a gift to certain villagers. Most people in Stardew Valley would appreciate you giving them wine. Harvey and Leah in particular love it so if you plan on having a better relationship with them, you should give them some wine.
How Do You Make Wine?
Now that you know where you can use wine, here’s how you will actually make it. First thing you’ll need are fruits. Any fruit in Stardew Valley will do as all of them can be used to make wine. If you’re looking to make the most money, you’ll want to use Melons, Rhubarbs, Pineapples, Ancient Fruits, Bananas, or Starfruits. These fruits yield the highest priced wine, especially Starfruits.
Once you have a fruit, just place it into a Keg. You’ll automatically get a recipe for this artisan equipment as soon as you reach level 8 in farming. You need 30 Wood, 1 Copper Bar, 1 Iron Bar, and 1 Oak Resin to craft a Keg.
After 6 days (in-game), you’ll find that your wine is ready. Remember, this is just the base wine and will only be sold for its base value. If you want to sell it for a higher price, you’ll need to age the wine using a Cask.
Casks are unlocked once you’ve fully upgraded your farmhouse. Robin will take care of the upgrade and she’ll add a cellar with 33 Casks. You can build another cask using 20 Wood and 1 Hardwood.
You’ll need to leave your wine in the cask for a certain period of time to achieve your desired rarity. There are 3 levels of rarity you can age your wine to: Silver (14 days), Gold (28 days), and Iridium (56 days). It goes without saying that Iridium quality wine has the most value. After aging your wine, you can go ahead and sell it for an enormous profit.
- Make sure you place your casks inside the Cellar. While you can technically place your casks anywhere, it would only work its effect if it’s inside your cellar.
- If you took the Artisan Profession, your wine would be worth 40% more. An Iridium quality wine made from Starfruit, for example, can be sold for a whopping 6,300g per bottle with the Artisan Profession.
- Since there is only a limited amount of space in the cellar, try to play around to optimize the layout of your casks to make the most out of the area.
So there you have it! That’s all you need to know about making wine in Stardew Valley. We hope that this guide helps. Have fun!
