Have a lot of Truffles but don’t know what to do with them? Looking for a way to make more money in Stardew Valley? You came to the right place. In this guide, we’ll show you how to make the most out of your Truffles by making Truffle Oil.

There are lots of neat things you can do in Stardew Valley. Of course, one of your primary goals in the game is to make a profit, and selling items like Artisan Goods is one of the best ways to make money. Truffle Oil is a great example of an artisan good that is relatively easy to craft and can be a good way to generate a steady source of income.

What is Truffle Oil?

Truffle Oil, like its name suggests, is made from Truffles. Like in real life, Truffle Oil is considered a gourmet cooking ingredient in the world of Stardew Valley. Fun fact, despite being listed as such, there are actually no cooking recipes that use it. Truffle Oil comes from putting Truffles on an Oil Maker. Truffles are generated by a healthy mature Pig. Sounds easy right? Well, it takes a little more than that. Before we get into how to make Truffle Oil, we’ll look into what you can use it for.

Where Can You Use Truffle Oil?

Truffle Oil has many uses in Stardew Valley. Since there aren’t many crafting recipes that involve Truffle Oil, apart from the Rain Totem, you’ll mostly be selling it. Truffle Oil has a base price of 1,065g. If you have the Artisan Profession, the price jumps to 1,491g. That’s a whopping 40% percent increase. So, whether you take the Artisan Profession or not, Truffle Oil is extremely profitable.

Truffle Oil is also needed to complete the Artisan Bundle over at the Community Center. Completing the bundle will reward you with a Keg, which you can use to turn certain fruits and items into beverages like Coffee and Wine

On the 21st of Summer in Year 2, Mayor Lewis will have a quest for you in the mail called “Mayor’s Need.”This quest has the mayor of Stardew Valley requesting Truffle Oil. Finishing the quest will reward you with 750g and 1 Friendship Heart with Mayor Lewis.

Also, while we’re on the topic, you can send out Truffle Oil as a gift to other residents. Harvey, in particular, loves the stuff. So if you plan on being better friends with him, you should give him some Truffle Oil. Other potential love interests like Abigail or Alex, also share a fondness for this item, and giving it to them will yield positive reactions.

How Do You Make Truffle Oil?

Now that we’ve gotten over Truffle Oil’s many uses, we’ll talk about how to actually make it. The first step is to obtain a Deluxe Barn. You’ll need a barn to shelter farm animals like Cows and Pigs. Once you have a Barn on your farm, you need to have it upgraded twice to unlock Pigs at Marnie’s Ranch. You need to go speak with Robin to start building your barn. You’ll start with a Standard Barn, then a Big Barn, then finally, a Deluxe Barn.

Here’s what you’ll need for each barn:

  • Standard Barn – 350 Wood 150 Stone 6,000g
  • Big Barn – 450 Wood 200 Stone 12,000g
  • Deluxe Barn – 550 Wood 300 Stone 25,000g

Next, you have to buy a Pig from Marnie. A Pig costs 16,000g. Once you’ve bought a Pig and placed it in your barn, you just have to wait 10 in-game days for it to mature.

Now, you can just let the matured Pig out whenever it isn’t raining in any season except Winter. Pigs generate Truffle by looking around the farm. Don’t worry about accidentally leaving them outside as they’ll automatically return to the Barn before nightfall. Keep in mind that you’ll only get Truffles when the Pigs are fed. The more a Pig likes you, the more it will generate better quality Truffles.

The final part of making Truffle Oil is getting an Oil Maker. The Oil Maker isn’t just used for Truffle Oil as you can use it to make regular Oil which you can use for cooking. You can make an Oil Maker by crafting it using 50 Slime, 20 Hardwood, and 1 Gold Bar.

One thing to note is that you need to have your Farming Skill Level at Level 8 before you can unlock the recipe for crafting an Oil Maker. Raising your farming skill is easy, just keep doing regular farming activities like harvesting crops, petting the farm animals, milking cows, shearing sheep, and picking up animal products inside a coop. Once you have your Oil Maker, just put a Truffle in it, wait for 6 hours, and voila. You now have Truffle Oil.

So there you have it! Truffle Oil is pretty easy to make as soon as you have the proper equipment to do so. It’s a great way to get rich quickly in Stardew Valley. We hope you found this guide helpful and we hope you enjoy playing the game. Happy farming!
