Despite being a free service, it is better if you pay for it. Why? Well, if you choose not to pay, your video stream will get interrupted by three or more commercial breaks, and who enjoys commercials? No one; that’s who. Besides, you will have access to all the content just hours being released in Japan and with their subtitles! All of that just for 7.99$ a month. Either way, if you don’t feel like paying for it, you can still watch Crunchyroll content; with some limitations; of course.
But the greatest thing about Crunchyroll, besides from the fact that is the only page dedicated to anime streaming, is that you can watch it from anywhere. Yes, you heard that right, from anywhere. This means that you can start watching the show on your TV using your PS4 (or PS3) and then continue on your phone. Isn’t it great?
If you don’t have a gaming console, you can still watch Crunchyroll on your TV. However, if you have a Smart TV, it has to run an Android-based OS to be able to download the app and watch Crunchyroll directly on your TV. So if you have, for example, a Samsung Smart TV, you must do one of the following workarounds.
Using the Crunchyroll App from Your Firestick
Head to the search section, which is at the top left corner of your screen and type Crunchyroll. Alternatively, you can use Alexa’s voice command to search for the app.
Hover over the app’s icon and click it after the search finishes.
Now, click on the get option, which is beneath the app’s description.
Click on Open to launch the app once the download finishes. You can also search and launch it from the apps menu. You should move it to the main screen if you will use it on a daily basis.
Using ChromeCast
The ChromeCast is quite similar to the Firestick. The main difference is that you cast the shows to form another device to the TV, instead of using the device itself to stream.
This process will start from the fact that you have already set up the ChromeCast, and link it to your TV and smartphone. If you are on your PC, just head to the Crunchyroll website. Once there, search for the show that you wish to see and click it.
Now, look at the top right corner and click on the cast icon. The show should now appear on your Samsung TV screen.
If the cast option is not there, click on the three vertical dots on the top left corner of the screen. Then, head down and click on the cast option. It will scan the nearby devices and you should be able to watch the show on your TV.
The process is easier if you are on your phone. Just open the Crunchyroll app and hit the cast button, which is usually at the top right side of the screen.
We know that these solutions are no ideal. You should be able to watch Crunchyroll directly from your Samsung Smart TV. But it is impossible for now since Samsung TVs don’t run on an Android OS. Therefore, you have to do either process if you wish to use your Smart TV to see Crunchyroll.
