Last Updated: November 2, 2022
Do you no longer wish to be a part of a workspace in Notion? Do you want to remove yourself from the workspace without removing or deleting its contents? If so, you can leave the workspace from the Settings window. Follow our quick guide below, and we’ll show you how to do it.
Tutorial
If you want to collaborate with people on Notion, you’ll need to join or create a workspace on the app. Other users can also invite you as guests with limited permissions.
As time passes, you might find yourself as a member of an inactive workspace. You also might not need one of your workspaces in the future.
Either way, you can leave a workspace on the app whenever you want. Here’s our guide about doing so from the Notion desktop or web app.
How to leave a Notion workspace
If you no longer need a workspace in Notion, you can leave it whenever you want. When you leave a workspace, you won’t be able to rejoin it unless an admin invites you back.
You can leave a workspace from the Notion web or desktop app. In our tutorial below, we’ll cover the steps to do so.
Note: We used a free workspace in our tutorial below. For users in a workspace with a paid plan, expect some differences in the interface.
On your computer:
- Launch the Notion desktop app or visit their web client and sign in to your account.
- Click the “Settings & Members” option on the sidebar.
- Make sure that you’re on the Members tab.
- Click your Access level on the right side of your name on the members list and select “Leave workspace” from the menu.
- Click the Remove option on the pop-up window to confirm your decision.
That’s how you leave a workspace on Notion. Leaving a workspace removes all your access to its pages and other contents.
Please note that you can’t rejoin a workspace after leaving it unless someone invites you back. So if you ever change your mind, ask one of the admins to add you back to the workspace.
If you’re mainly using the Notion app on your phone, you can’t leave a workspace from there. However, you can open the Notion web app on your browser to manage your workspaces if you can’t use a desktop or laptop.
To wrap it all up
Now that you know how to leave a workspace on Notion, you can now organize your account and clean up unused workspaces on the app. In this way, you can focus on more active workspaces and pages whenever you open the app.
