Follow our quick guide below, and we’ll show you how to kick users from your meeting on the Zoom desktop and mobile app.

Tutorial

Zoom is one of the most popular apps out there for hosting meetings online. People can use their service for free or upgrade to a premium account for more features and privileges.

By default, anyone can join your meeting as long as they have the link. As such, there might be times when someone accidentally joins the session or causes a disturbance intentionally.

Thankfully, hosts and co-hosts have the permission to kick out anyone from the video conference. In this way, you can remove participants from your meeting and prevent them from rejoining in the future.

With that in mind, here’s our quick guide about removing participants from your Zoom meeting.

How to remove a participant from meeting in Zoom

If you find someone unwanted at your Zoom meeting, you can opt to kick them out of the room. Once you do, they won’t be able to rejoin your current meeting unless you change your settings.

You can remove participants from a Zoom meeting if you’re a host or co-host, whether you’re using the app on your phone or computer. Here are our step-by-step tutorials that can help you kick people on both devices.

On the desktop app:

  1. Inside the meeting room, hover to the bottom of the screen and click Participants.

  2. On the Participants window, hover on the participant you want to remove and select “More.”

  3. Once the menu appears, click “Remove.”

By default, anyone you kick out of your Zoom meeting will not be able to rejoin your current session. However, you can navigate to your Account Settings > In Meeting (Basic) on a web browser to allow participants and web panelists to rejoin.

If you can’t access the option, you might need to contact an administrator for help.

On your meetings on the Zoom mobile app:

  1. Inside the meeting room, tap Participants at the bottom of the app.

  2. Select the participant you want to kick out and tap “Remove” on the menu.

  3. Tap the Remove option to confirm your decision.

Kicked-out users from your meeting on the Zoom mobile app won’t be able to rejoin your current session unless you change your settings. Like we said earlier, navigate to your Account Settings > In Meeting (Basic) option to allow the participant to rejoin.

Keep unwanted users out of your Zoom meeting

Now that you know how to remove participants from your Zoom meeting, you can prevent them from rejoining your current session on the app. In this way, you can continue with your video conference instead of leaving and hosting a new one.

Always remember that only hosts and co-hosts have permission to remove someone from a Zoom meeting. If you can’t find the option on your session, contact the host for help.
