How to manually host a channel on Twitch

If you want to help another streamer gain more potential followers and subscribers, you can use the hosting feature on Twitch. In this way, you can watch another channel during your stream while interacting with your viewers through chat.

You can manually host a channel whether you’re using Twitch on your phone or web browser. Check our tutorials below, and we’ll show you how to do it from both devices.

On the Twitch web client:

  1. Click your profile avatar on the top right corner and select “Channel” from the menu.

  2. Scroll down and open your channel’s chat feature.

  3. In the chat, type “/host [Channel name]” and press Enter.

That’s how you host another stream on your channel. To exit the hosting session, type “/unhost” on your stream’s chat.

You can switch to another channel with the “/host” command up to three times in thirty minutes. In this way, you can go to another channel if the one you’re hosting goes offline.

On the Twitch mobile app:

  1. After signing in to your account, head to the channel that you want to host.
  2. Tap the video feed and select the Share button among the options that appear on your screen.

  3. Tap the host option at the bottom of your screen.

Alternatively, you can use the “/host” command on your channel’s chat feature to host another user. On the other hand, you can use the auto-host feature to host pre-approved channels while you’re not live on your stream.
