How To Hide A Conversation On Microsoft Teams

Do you have a conversation that you no longer need on Microsoft Teams? Do you want to remove it from your chat list on the app? If so, you can hide the conversation from appearing on the Chat tab on your account. Follow our step-by-step guide below, and we’ll show you how to do so.

When you send someone a message on Microsoft Teams, the conversation history will appear and remain on your Chat tab. You can find all your existing chats with other users in this section if you ever need to read the messages and access the files.
If you no longer need one of your conversations, there’s no way to delete them from your chat list. However, you have the option to hide them to stop receiving any kind of notification from the conversation.

How to hide a chat on Teams
If you don’t want to see some of your chats on Microsoft Teams, you can hide them from the list. In this way, you can focus on active and more important conversations with your teammates.
You can hide conversations on your account whether you’re using the Teams app on your phone or desktop. In our quick tutorials below, we’ll show you how to do it from both devices.
On your phone:
- Open the Teams app on your phone and sign in to your account.
- Tap the Chat tab at the bottom of the app.
- Tap and hold into the conversation that you want to hide.
- Select the “Hide chat” option on the menu that appears at the bottom of your screen.
You can use the search bar to find your hidden chats whenever you need them. After searching for the conversation, you can unhide them by holding to the chat and selecting the unhide option from the menu.
On your computer:
- Launch the Teams desktop app or visit their web client and sign in to your account.
- Click “Chat” on the sidebar on the left side of your screen.
- Hover your mouse pointer to one of the chats, click the three-dots icon, and select the “Hide” option from the menu.
That’s how you hide conversations on Microsoft Teams. You won’t receive notifications from hidden chats on your organization.
