How To Get The Sonic And Tails Layered Armor For Your Buddies In Monster Hunter Rise

Sure, it’s cool to have your Hunter look like Sonic the Hedgehog. But what if you can actually make one of your furry companions actually BE Sonic the Hedgehog? Here’s how you can get these awesome new layered armor for your buddies in Monster Hunter Rise.

Gaming

As part of the most recent Capcom Collab, Sonic the Hedgehog makes a surprise appearance in the world of Monster Hunter Rise. While it’s not actually Sonic himself that appears, you can get your Palico to look just like him. Not only that, you can also have your Palamute look like Tails as well. How awesome is that?

What You Need

Starting on November 26, 2021, you can claim the free add-on content called Gotta Hoard Fast! from Senri the Mailman. Once you’ve claimed the quest, you can now accept it through the Quest Counter at the Gathering Hub under Event Quests

To craft the special layered armor, you need a specific crafting material that can only be received as a reward from this event quest.

Gotta Hoard Fast!

In this quest, you are given a simple task of delivering 200 Rings from a client simply known as “Young Two-Tailed Fox.” Sonic has dropped his rings and it’s up to you to get them back. Set in the Shrine Ruins, you’ll have to go all across the map trying to get 200 of Sonic’s Rings as fast as you can. Don’t worry about getting lost though, because the ring’s locations can be seen on the minimap.

Based on how fast you can collect the rings, you can get a rating of S+, S, A, or B. Once you’ve cleared the quest, you’ll get a Quest Bonus Reward called Buddy Ring which is the material you’ll need to craft the Layered Armor for your Buddies. Both the Sonic Costume for your Palico and the Canyne Tails for your Palamute each require 4 Buddy Rings so you’ll need a total of 8 to forge these layered armor for your buddies. You may need to repeat the quest a few times

Once you’ve gathered enough materials, you can head on to the Buddy Smithy and forge the layered armor. It’s under the Special tab like all the other layered armor from event quests.

And voila! Your buddies are now dressed like Sonic and Tails!

Bonus Effects

While you won’t get stat bonuses from these Layered Armors since they’re purely for cosmetic purposes, you do get a bunch of neat visual effects on your Palico if they’re wearing the Sonic Costume. For instance, your Palico can be blast forward with a spin dash and look like Sonic’s ball form in the games.

The best part is when you power up your Palico with a Felvine. In the Sonic games, there are seven gems with unimaginable power called the Chaos Emeralds. These gems function very similarly to Marvel’s Infinity Stones. If you power up your Palico while they’re dressed as Sonic, you’ll get an awesome animation showing all seven Chaos Emeralds.

Then before you know it, your Palico will turn into Super Sonic!

So there you have it! That’s everything you need to know to get the Sonic and Tails Layered Armor for your Buddies in Monster Hunter Rise. Be sure to check back with us again for more awesome guides on your favorite games. Have fun!
