How To Get Notifications When Someone Is Available On Zoom
Last Updated: December 19, 2022
Do you want to start a conversation with someone on Zoom but want to wait until they’re online? Or do you want to invite them to a webinar once they’re available? In any case, you can use the “Notify When Available” option on your contacts. In this way, you’ll receive alerts when your contact’s status becomes available on the app.
Tutorial
By default, you’ll see someone online on Zoom when they’re using the app. Unless they change their settings, you’ll see someone’s availability status from your Contacts tab.
When someone’s status is “Available” on Zoom, it means that they’re currently online and using the app. As such, you can send them messages or invite them to meetings, and you’ll most likely receive a response.
However, we understand that monitoring your contacts to wait for someone to come online is time-consuming. Thankfully, there’s an option that notifies you when a contact becomes available on the app.
Here’s our guide about using the notify option on your contacts in Zoom.
How to receive alerts when someone is available on Zoom
If you’re waiting for someone to become available on Zoom so that you can invite them for a meeting or a chat, you can use the “Notify me when available” option on the app. In this way, you can do other things while waiting for the person you need on Zoom to come online.
You can toggle the notify option on Zoom whether you’re on your phone or desktop. In our step-by-step tutorials below, we’ll cover the steps on both.
On your phone:
- Open Zoom on your phone and sign in to your account.
- Tap Contacts at the bottom of the app.
- Tap and hold one of your contacts on the list.
- Once the menu appears, select the “Notify Me When Available” option on the menu.
That’s how you enable notifications for your contacts on Zoom. When the person’s status becomes “Available,” you’ll receive an alert on your device.
On your computer:
- Open the Zoom desktop app and sign in to your account.
- Head to the Contacts tab.
- Hover your mouse pointer to one of your contacts and click More options (three-dots icon). Alternatively, you can right-click someone’s name on the list.
- Once the menu appears, select the “Notify Me When Available” option.
If you ever change your mind, all you have to do is open the menu again and select the “Do Not Notify Me When Available” option.
To wrap things up
Now that you know how to use the “Notify Me When Available” option on Zoom, you can now receive notifications when one of your contacts comes online on the app. You can always turn off the feature on your contacts whenever you want.
