How To Get Into The Witch’s Hut In Stardew Valley

Are you wondering where that sealed off cave in the northeast section of the Railroad area leads to? In this guide, we’ll show you how you can unlock this secret late game location in Stardew Valley.

The Witch’s Hut is an underground place located at the Witch’s Swamp. Here, you’ll find all sorts of magical things. Some of them can even turn your children into doves. However, you can’t just walk on over to these locations. You need to do special quests in order for you to gain access to the Witch’s Hut. But don’t worry, it won’t be that hard.

Before we go over on how you get into this location, let’s take a look at what you can do in the Witch’s Hut.

What’s in the Witch’s Hut?

The Witch’s Hut is home to three mystical shrines that can grant you certain things. You’ll also find here the Wizard’s missing Magic Ink and a red teleportation rune on the ground. Let’s take a closer look at each of them.

Easily the most interesting things you’ll find inside the Witch’s Hut. There are three shrines overall and each of them have a specific purpose. The one on the left is the Dark Shrine of Selfishness, which will turn all your children into doves if you offer a Prismatic Shard. The one in the middle is the Dark Shrine of Memory, which will wipe away all of your ex-spouses’ memory for 30,000g. The last shrine on the right is the Dark Shrine of Night Terrors, which will lift the ancient magi-seal and allow monsters to appear in your farm, if you offer a Strange Bun in exchange.

Wizard’s Magic Ink

Belonging to the Wizard, you’ll find the Magic Ink on a table inside the Witch’s Hut. While this has no use to you, returning it to the Wizard will earn you his gratitude and will unlock several new Farm Buildings you can purchase at the Wizard’s Tower like the Obelisks and the Junimo Hut.

Red Teleportation Rune

Located at the right side near the entrance of the Witch’s Hut, you’ll find a teleportation rune that will teleport you all the way to the basement room of the Wizard’s Tower. If you’ve achieved 4 hearts of friendship with the Wizard, you can freely teleport anytime between the two locations. However, if you aren’t there yet, you can only use the rune from the Witch’s Hut. Rumor has it that the Wizard and the Witch used to date. Could they have used this teleportation rune to go on a secret rendezvous?

How do you get there?

Before you can trigger the quests that’ll unlock the Witch’s Hut, you must first have completed either the Community Center Bundles or the Joja Community Development Form. Once you’ve done this, you can now trigger the events that lead to the quests.

Dark Talisman

The first quest that you need to complete to get to the Witch’s Hut. After completing the prerequisites, you can go to the Railroad where you’ll trigger a cutscene that involves the Wizard asking you to find a Dark Talisman. You can find the Dark Talisman at the Mutant Bug Lair which is located in the Sewers. After you’ve received the quest, talk to Krobus, the shadow person, inside the Sewers and he’ll reveal to you the location of the Dark Talisman. For a more in-depth guide on how to unlock the Sewers, you can check our guide here.

Once in the Mutant Bug Lair, you’ll find a chest containing the Dark Talisman. Once you’ve obtained it, head to the sealed off cave in the Railroad area and place it on the artifact blocking the entrance. Go inside the cave and you’ll find a teleportation rune that leads to the Witch’s Swamp. Here, you’ll find bodies of water where you can actually fish, the Witch’s Hut, and a goblin Henchman blocking your path.

Goblin Problem

This is a very easy quest. To get the goblin Henchman to move, just give him a jar of Void Mayonnaise. Goblins love Void Mayonnaise. You can get Void Mayonnaise if you put a Void Egg from a Void Chicken inside a Mayonnaise Machine. Or, if you’d rather not go through the trouble of going back to your farm to make Void Mayonnaise, you can simply fish for it in the nearby bodies of water at the Witch’s Swamp. Although this will only work if you don’t have Void Mayonnaise on you and the Goblin Problem quest is still in progress. There’s a 25% chance of catching a jar of Void Mayonnaise if you fish around the area. So if you’re patient enough, you can complete this quest immediately without having to leave the area. Other things you can catch while fishing here include a Void Catfish (which is actually a unique item that you can only get here), a Catfish, White Algae, and Green Algae. Once you’ve given the Henchman a Void Mayonnaise, he’ll step out of your way and you can make your way inside the Witch’s Hut.

So there you have it! That’s all you need to know so that you can unlock the Witch’s Hut in Stardew Valley. We hope you found this guide useful and make sure to check back with us again for more guides on your favorite games. Have fun!
