How To Get Every Regi In Pokémon Sword And Shield

Did you know that you can get all the legendary giants in Pokémon Sword and Shield? In this guide, we’ll show you everything you need to know to catch all of them from Regirock to Regigigas.

Gaming

The Legendary Giants were first introduced in Generation III where you can catch Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. Back then it was pretty hard to obtain these legendary Pokémon because it required you to solve puzzles written in Braille. Meanwhile, Regigigas was introduced in Generation IV and was equally difficult to obtain. Now, these Pokémon are making a comeback in the current generation of Pokémon games with two new additions and thankfully, it’s not as complicated to obtain them as before. But in typical Regi fashion, you’ll need to solve puzzles and riddles to get them.

First things first, you’ll need the Crown Tundra DLC as the Regi Temples would be located in this new area. Next up, you need to meet Peony in the small town of Freezington. Once you’ve cleared all the cutscenes he’ll send you on an expedition and give you three Legendary Clues to catch different Legendary Pokémon. One of these clues will be the key to get all the Regis.

Regirock

First up, is Regirock. Regirock’s temple was described in the clue as “Far, far into the Giant’s Bed..” so that’s where you should start looking. Go into the far easter end of the Crown Tundra until you see the river. From there, head to your left and then go all the way until you see the temple at the end of the path. Once you’re there you’ll see something written on the door that says, “Let the first Pokémon hold a never-changing stone.” This is of course referring to an Everstone which you should have at this point in the game. Give it to the first Pokémon on your party and interact with the door again. The door should open and inside is another puzzle.

As soon as you get inside, you’ll see a pattern of large dots on the floor and a statue in the middle of the temple. Every time you step on one of the dots, they light up. What you need to do now is to step on each of the dots. Once you do, you’ll receive a notification that will say something changed in the air.

You can now interact with the statue and you’ll encounter Regirock.

Regirock will be Lv. 70 so make sure you bring Pokémon who can help you catch it.

Regice

Next up is the Ice Giant, Regice. True to its theme, Regice is located in the icy area of the Snowslide Slope. To get to its temple, start at the bottom of the Snowslide Slope. Go upwards until you see ruins made with red bricks. You’ll see two of them, one on your left and one on your right. Go behind the left one and follow the path until you reach the temple. If you try to get in, there’ll be another riddle at the door that says, “Walk together with a living crystal of snow.” This means that you need to catch the Pokémon, Cryogonal. Fortunately, you can easily catch it around the area where the temple is located. After you’ve caught one, have it first in your party and interact with the door. Inside, you’ll find another set of large dots on the floor and a statue in the middle.

Just like Regirock’s temple, you need to step on each one to get them to light up before you interact with the statue to encounter Regice.

Regice will be Lv. 70 and will have a bunch of strong Ice type moves.

Registeel

The next Legendary Giant is Registeel. His temple is the easiest to locate since it’s just south of Freezington. Fly up to Freezington and from the Freeze Inn, keep going south until you reach Giant’s Bed. From there, you’ll spot the temple on your right side. If you try to go in, there’ll be another riddle written on the door that says, “Let ring the piercing note that will wake the giant of steel.” This means that all you need to do is to whistle, which you can do by pressing the Left Thumbstick. Once you’re in, you’ll see the familiar pattern of large dots that light up if you step on them.

Get them all lit and you can encounter Registeel by interacting with the statue.

Registeel will also be at Lvl. 70 so be prepared before you fight it.

Regieleki/Regidrago

Finally, we’re at the two new Legendary Giants, Regieleki and Regidrago. We’ve put them together in one entry because, well you can only get one of them. It’s a difficult choice, we know but let’s focus first on how to get to their temple. They’re at a place called the Three-Point Pass, probably because the defining feature of the area are the three large rocks pointing upwards. Getting to Three-Point Pass is a little tricky as it involves going through a set of intricate tunnels that can get confusing. Alright so a recommended starting point is Giant’s Bed, specifically in front of Regirock’s temple. If you open your map, you can see that you can fly to this area. Once there, head forwards until you reach the point where you can make a right. After you’ve made the right turn, make another right and you’ll be at Giant’s Foot. In front of you, there should be a large patch of tall grass filled with wild Pokémon. Just beyond it, you’ll find a river that goes into the Roaring-Sea Caves. Follow the river and at the end, you’ll see a path that leads to the rest of the cave on your right. Follow the path and you’ll eventually be at an intersection that leads into the other parts of the cave. Pick the path in the middle and follow it until you reach the Frigid Sea. From there, just head into the water and make a right until you see land. Go straight ahead until the end and on your left, you’ll find the temple.

On the door you’ll see a riddle that says, “A giant of rock. A giant of ice. A giant of steel. A giant of steel. When gather the three giants, the door of destiny shall be opened.” This means that you need to have all the previous Legendary Giants in your party. Once you do, you can finally get inside. As soon as you go in, you’ll notice that the cutscene will linger for a little bit on the symbols outside the temple. This is important as you’ll need it to pick which Regi you’ll get.

Inside, you’ll see pretty much the same things you see from the other temples. A bunch of light up dots on the floor and a statue in the middle. Now, instead of lighting every dot up like in previous temples, you need to light it up in the same pattern as one of the symbols outside the temple. The one in yellow is for Regieleki and the one in red is for Regidrago.

As we mentioned before, you can only get one of them. The only way to get the other one you didn’t choose is through trading so choose carefully. Personally, we went with Regieleki since it has the highest Speed stat out of any Pokémon you’ll ever see so it’s great for competitive play. Regidrago is a pretty solid choice as well if you would prefer a strong Dragon type.

Both of them will be at Lvl. 70 so make sure your Pokémon are ready to face them.

Regigigas

The final Legendary Giant you can get in the game is Regigigas. Most people don’t really know that Regigigas can be obtainable through the game since it’s not part of the clues that Peony handed out to you when he sent you on an expedition. Regigas can only be encountered when you have all five of the Legendary Giants. So make sure you have all of them, including the one you didn’t take at Three-Point Pass. Once you do, make your way to the Snowslide Slope. From the Watt Trader, head south until you find a raid den surrounded by four boulders.

If you have all five of the Legendary Giants, just interact with the den and you’ll find yourself in an intense Max Raid battle with none other than Regigigas itself.

Regigigas will be a tough battle as it will be a dynamaxed legendary at Lvl. 100. Make sure that you take a Pokémon with fighting moves to help you whittle down Regigigas’ health. You won’t be able to battle Regigigas with any other people, including NPCs. The good thing about this is it has a 100% catch rate. So as long as you beat Regigigas in the Max Raid battle, you’re guaranteed to catch it.

So there you have it! That’s all you need to know on how to catch all the legendary giants in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Be sure to check back with us often for more guides on your favorite games. Have fun!
