Is your Fire TV remote control broken? Do you want to reset the Firestick, but the remote won’t budge? Navigating through the Settings menu without the remote control can be very difficult. If your remote is stuck, you need to find a different way to access the Settings.
So, what can you do? In this kind of situation, you will have to rely on a different method to solve the problem. You need to use the buttons of the Fire TV remote to make this possible. Of course, this is difficult but doable.
Don’t worry, there is a way you can do that. That’s exactly why we made this guide for you. We will show you how you can reset your Firestick even if the remote control is not working. Now, to make this work, there is an interesting option you should try out.
That option is the Alexa remote app. All you have to do is follow these steps. So, without further ado, let’s get right to it.
Start by downloading the Alexa remote app. This is an app that gives you a virtual or digital remote that you can use on your Fire TV. It is available for both iOS and Android devices. But, what you need to make sure is that you download the latest versions of the app.
For Android, download the 4.0.3 version or above. For iOS make sure that you download the 7.0 version or above. To do that, go to the Play Store and download the app. In the search bar, type “Amazon Fire TV”. Install the app on your device.
Open the app. This is the first screen you are going to see. What you want to do here is select the device you want the app to connect to. To unlock this option, you have to sign in. So, press the button on the bottom of the screen and type in your username and password.
When you are done, select the Fire TV you want the app to connect to. Now, you have to type in the 4 digit code you can see on your Fire TV. For that, your Fire TV has to be on. Confirm the code.
And that’s it! Now your app is connected to your Fire TV. It basically works like any other remote. You have all the buttons your typical Fire TV remote would have on the bottom of the screen. In the middle, you can navigate left, right, up, and down.
Now, what you have to do is simple. Just use the app to go to the “Settings” menu on the top bar of the screen. Scroll through the options and go to “Device”. Scroll to the end of the list and select “Reset Factory Defaults”. And that’s about it. Your Fire TV is now reset to factory settings.
Even if your remote control is not working, you can still navigate through the Settings. Now that you know how to do it, go ahead and give it a try. This is a useful trick that is quite handy. Let us know if you found this guide helpful.
