You can use smart downloads from the YouTube Music mobile app. In our tutorial below, we’ll show you how to do it from an Android phone.
Note: Smart downloads are only available to users with a premium subscription.
On your Android device:
- Launch YouTube music from your home screen or app drawer and sign in to your account.
- Tap “Library” at the bottom right part of the app.
- Head to your Downloads on the app.
- Tap the gear icon on the top of the Downloads tab to manage its settings.
- Toggle the Smart downloads option.
- Choose the maximum number of songs that you’ll get from the smart downloads feature.
That’s how you enable the Smart downloads option on YouTube Music. The number of songs that the app will save on your device depends on your decision.

Please note that the music selection from the app refreshes every night when you’re connected to your Wi-Fi. However, you can delete songs you don’t want on your downloads by opening the menu (three dots icon) beside the song and selecting the “Remove download” option.
