How To Download Gmail Emails To Computer

Step 1

The first thing you need to do is log in to your Gmail account. On the top right corner of the screen is your profile picture. Click on it. Then, click on “Google Account” to open your account settings.

Next, go to “Data & Personalization”. It is the option on the left side of the menu. After that, go to your “Google Dashboard”. It is right above the “Account storage”. Click on it.

To get a copy of all the data you have saved on your Google account, click on “Download your data”. It is highlighted in blue.

This is all the data saved to your Google Account. Since you only want to download your emails from Gmail, deselect all the other data. You don’t need them.

Scroll through the list until you find the Gmail icon. Click on the empty square on the right side. Make sure the checkmark appears. Now, you have selected your Gmail account. If you want to download data for any of the other stuff you have used, you can check them too.

Scroll to the end of the list and click on “Next Step”.

In this new window, you can select the method you want to receive your emails. For example, you can download them to your Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Box, or send them to your email. Whatever option you choose, you can still download your emails. 

When you are done selecting the delivery method, pick the file type and the archive size. In the end, click on “Create Archive”. It is the button on the bottom right corner of the screen.

 

Step 8

Now, you have to wait. Your mail data will take a while to get archived. Depending on how many emails you are trying to download, it can take up to hours or days to get all the data processed. When the process is done, you will receive a notification on your email.
