How To Disable Screen Sharing On Google Meet
Last Updated: December 19, 2021
Do you want to prevent other users from sharing their screen on meetings you host on Google Meet? If so, you can disable the feature on your host controls inside the meeting room. Follow our quick guide below, and we’ll show you how to manage the screen sharing feature on your Google Meet meetings.
Tutorial
In Google Meet, users can share a specific tab, window, or their entire screen during meetings. This feature allows users to present documents and other projects through video conferences they host on the app.
If someone starts sharing their screen when another user is presenting, the app pauses the first presentation automatically. As such, you don’t want other users starting their own presentations while someone else is using the screens sharing feature.
Thankfully, the meeting host can prevent participants from sharing their screens. When you disable this feature through your host controls, only you can start presentations during the meeting.
Here’s our guide about disabling the screen sharing feature on Google Meet.
How to prevent participants from sharing their screen in Google Meet
If you don’t want other participants to share their screens during your meetings on Google Meet, you can disable the feature inside the room. In this way, you can focus on presenting and discussing without worrying about other people.
You can manage your meeting’s screen-sharing options whether you’re using Meet on your phone or computer. Check our quick tutorials below to learn how.
On the Google Meet web client:
- Host a meeting and invite the people you want to join.
- Click the Host controls icon on the bottom right corner of the meeting room.
- Under the host management section, toggle the screen sharing feature for all the participants.
That’s how you disable the screen-sharing feature on the Google Meet web client. If you ever change your mind, you can always manage your host settings to enable this feature when you need it.
Make sure to enable the “Host Management” option to access the controls you’ll need to manage your meeting.
On the Meet mobile app:
- After signing in to your account, start a new meeting and invite the participants to join.
- Tap the three dots icon on the bottom right part of the meeting room.
- On the menu that appears, tap “Meeting security.”
- Under the “Let everyone” section, toggle the share screen option.
That’s how you turn off the screen sharing feature from the meet mobile app. If you disabled the feature during recurring meetings, your settings automatically apply to the next session you host.
If you can’t disable the screen sharing feature, you might want to check if you have any extensions on your Chrome browser for Google Meet. If you do have one, try turning it off in the meantime.
To wrap it all up
Now that you know how to disable screen sharing in your Google Meet meetings, you can focus on presenting your documents and projects to other people without worrying about interruptions from other participants. If you ever change your mind, you can always toggle the setting on your host controls.
