Does a lot of people on Signal reply or react to the stories you post on your account? Do you want to stop everyone from replying to your stories on the app? If that’s the case, you can turn off the reply feature on your story settings on Signal. Follow our quick guide below, and we’ll show you how to do so.
Stories on Signal allows users to share their daily experiences with their friends on the app. You can post a photo, text, or video as a story which lasts for 24 hours.
By default, other people that views your stories can reply or react to them. As such, your stories on the app can be the start of quick conversations with your friends and contacts.
However, we understand that some of you only want to share their stories, not people replying to them. If that’s the case for you, you can turn off story replies and reactions on your settings.

How to turn off replies and reactions to your stories on Signal
If you don’t want people to reply or send reactions to stories you post on Signal, you can turn them off from your settings. In this way, you won’t need to worry about people replying to the things you share on the app.
You can turn off story replies from your settings on the Signal mobile app. Check our step-by-step tutorial below, and we’ll teach you how to do so.
On your phone:
- Launch the Signal app from your home screen or app drawer and sign in to your account.
- Tap your profile icon above the chats list top open your Settings page. Alternatively, you can tap More options (three dots icon) on the top right.
- Open your Stories options.
- Tap “My Story” to edit its settings. Alternatively, you can open one of your other story groups or viewers that you created.
- Toggle the “Allow stories & replies” option to turn it off.
That’s how you turn off replies and reactions on your stories on Signal. Other users that views your stories won’t find the option to send a message or a quick reaction at the bottom of their screens.
Please note that you can still reply to stories of other users even if you turned the feature off on your account. As long as the person didn’t disable the reply feature, you can send a quick reaction or message to the person when they post a story.
