How To Delete All Messages In A Channel In Discord

Are you running a popular and active channel? Is the chat just too much for you to handle? There is a way you can deal with these messages. Managing active servers or channels can be very tiring. Getting through all the old messages is sometimes a real problem.

Social Media

Some of these old messages can be insulting or simply old news. So, you will want to filter them out to make sure the information in your chat is clean or up to date.

On some servers, people chat all the time. So, it is a good idea to know how to manage that chat to avoid getting overwhelmed with old messages. That’s why we made this guide for you. We will show you what you need to do to delete the chats or messages you don’t like.

The day Discord was released, administrators had an option implemented in the Discord UI that they used to delete messages in a bulk. However, this option caused unexpected database problems. So, they had to remove it. That’s why there is no option to delete all the messages. Instead, we will show you two ways you can deal with this problem. Let’s begin.

Option 1

If there is a message in your channel that you don’t like, you can directly delete that exact message. To do it, open the channel where the message is. Hover with your mouse to the far right until you see the three vertical dots. This is the menu. Select the menu and press delete.

Now Discord will ask you if you are sure you want to delete the message. So, confirm and the message will disappear. This is a simple trick to get rid of one message. But, it is not a good thing for deleting in bulk.

Option 2

To delete multiple messages at once, you will need a bot for that. We recommend you try the MEE6 bot. This is one of the most popular bots you can use. All you have to do is log into your channel on Discord and activate the bot.

Step 1

Go to the MEE6 website and authorize the bot to work on your channel. To do that, you first have to select your server.

Step 2

Check all the boxes here. You will have to give the bot permission to access everything you need from your Discord channel.

Step 3

Once you authorize, you can go ahead and download the bot. Install it by following all the instructions. Now open your Discord channel and type in the following command in the same place where you type in a regular message. Write “!clear 1000” to delete 1000 messages in your channel.

An important thing to know is that the number is not fixed. It means that you can edit it as you see fit. If you replace the number with 50, only the last 50 messages in your channel will be deleted. So, if you type 30, only 30 messages will be removed. So, go ahead and use any number you need. When you are ready, simply press “Enter” and watch as all the messages disappear.

As you can see, using bots for deleting all the messages can be a very useful thing. If you don’t use a bot, you can’t delete the entire chat. So, it is important to use the right bot. If you don’t want to delete all the messages, you can always delete them one by one. That’s it! Now you know how to delete all the messages in your channel on Discord.
