Do you have a ton of unwanted people on your Skype to the point that it’s difficult to remove them one-by-one? If that’s the case, then you might want to delete all of your contacts to start over. If you’re not familiar with how to do this on your contacts, don’t worry, we’re here to help you. Follow our quick guide below to learn how to delete all your unwanted contacts on Skype.

Having a ton of contacts on Skype can be distracting at times, most especially if you use your account for work-related chats, calls, and meetings. You don’t want to send your messages to the wrong person on your contacts list accidentally.

If you’re having some trouble with all of your contacts on the platform, you might want to delete them all and start over. After removing everyone, you can then proceed to add the contacts of your friends, workmates, and family back.

Alternatively, you can choose to deselect and exclude important contacts when deleting contacts on the app. Whichever method you choose, we’re here to help you.

We’ll teach you how to delete multiple contacts on Skype with our guide below.

How to delete all of your Skype contacts

Before we start, please note that after you remove someone from your contacts list, you can’t undo your decision. However, you can always add the contact again as long as you can search for the individual on Skype.

To delete all your contacts on Skype, you’ll have to select everyone on the list with the help of your Shift key. Right-click on one of your contacts and select the delete option.

Here’s a quick step-by-step tutorial to help you.

On your computer:

  1. Launch the Skype desktop app or web client and sign-in to your account.
  2. On the left side of your screen, click Contacts.

  3. If you want to select everyone on your contacts, start by holding Shift on your keyboard and left-click on the first person on the list. Scroll down to find the last one and use Shift + left-click again.

In case you want to exclude some items on the list, press Ctrl and left-click on the contact to remove it from the selection. You can also use this combination to select multiple people on the list.

  4. After selecting the contacts, right-click on one of them and choose Delete Contacts.

As for Skype users on Android, you can’t select multiple contacts and remove them all at once. You must go to each one of your contacts and delete them one-by-one.

Here’s how to delete a Skype contact on the Android app:

  1. Open the Skype app on your device and sign-in.
  2. At the bottom of your screen, tap the Contacts tab.

  3. Tap and hold on a contact to access some options and select Delete contact.

Repeat these steps above until you delete everyone on your contacts list. If you have a ton of items to delete, you might want to switch devices and use your computer instead.

It is worth noting that if you remove a synced contact on Skype for mobile, you’ll only delete the copy on the app’s list. It won’t affect your phone’s address book in any way.

How to block a contact on Skype

If you don’t want unwanted people to contact you on Skype, you can opt to block them on the platform. By doing so, you won’t receive any messages, calls, or video chat from the blocked contact.

On your computer, head over to the Chats or Contacts tab, right-click on a contact and select View Profile. Scroll down at the bottom of the page and click the “Block contact” option.

For Skype on Android, you can head over to the Contacts tab, tap and hold on a contact to find the block option. Alternatively, you can open view a contact’s profile, tap More options (three-dot icon), and select “Block contact.”

To wrap it all up

Now that you know how to delete multiple contacts on Skype, you can now remove the unwanted ones from your account. You can also choose to erase everything on your contacts list and start over.

But before you do, please remember that after deleting a contact, you can’t undo your decision. However, you can always add someone back through the search function.
