As a lot of time pass by, you might find yourself managing a community with no active members. When that happens, you have the option to delete the chat for everyone.

How to delete a Teams community

If you no longer need a community that you manage on Teams, you can delete it whenever you want. As the creator, you have permission to delete the community for everyone participating.

You can delete a community on Teams from their mobile app. Check our tutorial below, and we’ll show you the steps to do so.

On your phone:

  1. Open the Teams app from your home screen or app drawer and sign in to your account.
  2. Go to the Home tab and open the community that you want to manage.
  3. Tap the information icon on the conversation header.

  4. Select the Delete community option at the bottom.

  5. Tap “Delete” on the pop-up window to confirm your decision.

That’s how you delete a community that you own on Microsoft Teams. Once you delete the community, you can’t undo and restore the chat in the future.

Please note that only owners have permission to delete a community on Teams. Regular members can only leave the community without erasing the chat history.
