How To Create Folders In Gmail

When you don’t have folders in your Gmail account, there’s a good chance your inbox is unorganized, especially when a new message arrives. You should learn how to create folders to help you with this issue and to be able to control your inbox. Keep in mind that in Gmail, folders are referred to as “labels.”

Through The Left Panel
1. Go to Gmail.
To begin, launch your computer browser and navigate to Gmail. Make sure the account whose inbox you want to edit is logged in.
2. Hover your cursor to the left panel then click “More.”
After which, if you’re already on the Gmail homepage, navigate to the left-hand panel. This left panel displays the various folders that you currently have on your account. Typically, the folders that are displayed are the default ones. As a result, you must click “More” to see the various options.

3. Select the option “Create new label.”
Scroll down the left panel until you see the option “Create new label.” When you select this option, a pop-up window will appear on your screen.

4. Type in the name for your label in the pop-up window.
The “New label” pop-up window will contain spaces where you can enter general information for the label you are about to create. You must now type in the label’s desired name.

5. Click the “Create” button.
Finally, if you are certain about the label’s details, click the “Create” button at the bottom of the pop-up window. Remember that you don’t need to save anything because clicking the “Create” button will immediately display the new label on the left panel.

Through Settings
1. Open Gmail on your browser.
You must first launch your web browser and then navigate to Gmail. Then, using your Google credentials, log into your account.
2. Click the gear icon on the upper left corner.
Once you’re on the Gmail page, look for the gear icon in the top-left corner. You must click this icon to bring up a drop-down menu on your screen.

3. Select the option “See all settings.”
The drop-down menu will contain the most basic settings options, but because we need a more complex setting in this example, you must select “See all settings.”

4. Go to the “Labels” section.
Go to the second section from the left on the “Settings” page, which is “Labels.”

5. Tap the “Create new label” button.
Lastly, if you are already in the “Labels” section, you must scroll down until you see the “Create new label” button that you must select. When you click this, a pop-up window will appear on your screen where you can type in the name for your label.

Using folders not only makes your inbox more readable and organized but also increases your productivity. When you plan to create folders, it’s essential to make a list of all the categories that you believe best fit the messages you receive frequently.
