How To Create Animations In Google Photos
Last Updated: September 30, 2021
Do you know what’s a great thing to do with all the images you have stored in Google Photos? You could create movies, collages, and animations with them — all by just using the app!
Creating simple edits like these can be fun and quickly done in Google Photos. Thus, if you suddenly had a visit to your photo library and want to have a great time, try exploring a bit and get to create a basic collage with your photos or short movies and animations with your media files!
In this guide, we won’t thoroughly talk about the three of them but will focus more on the process of creating animations in Google Photos. This is something you’ll surely enjoy doing either on your computer or mobile device!
Using a Mobile Device
If you’re thinking about creating animations using your phone, that’s definitely possible. The steps are very simple, so you won’t be having any difficulty following the steps indicated below.
1. Open the Google Photos application and login to your Google account.
First off, launch the Google Photos application on your mobile device and make sure that your Google account is logged in.
2. Select “Library” from the options at the bottom of the screen.
You’ll first be presented with the four different buttons at the bottom of the screen — Photos, Search, Sharing, and Library. Among them, tap on”Library” and wait for a new display to appear on your screen.

3. Go to the “Utilities” folder.
Visiting the Library option will open a new different set of options for you to choose from. The button we’re interested in is “Utilities,” so make sure to click that on your screen to begin with creating an animation.

4. Select “Animation” from the options under the “Create New” section.
You will see different sections on this screen, but you must scroll down and look for the “Create New” section. Under this section, you’ll see three options: to animate, create a movie, and make a collage; you must select the “Animation” button.

5. Select the photos that you would like to include in the animation, then click “Create.”
Browse through all the photos in your Google Photos account and carefully select which ones to include in the animation you wish to create.
If you’re having trouble finding a specific photo, try searching for a keyword related to that image to narrow down your options. After you have finished choosing all the photos to include, click the “Create” button on the top-right corner of the screen, and your work will automatically be saved and played.
However, remember to limit your photos to 50 because that’s the maximum number allowed by Google Photos.

Going to Web Browser
If you don’t have the Google Photos app on your phone and want to be creative by making an animation using it, you can do so by going to Google Photos on your web browser. For a successful process, simply follow all of the steps outlined below.
1. Click on the “Utilities” folder on the panel.
If you’re already in Google Photos, you’ll notice a panel on the right side of the page with different buttons. To continue with the animation, go to the “Utilities” folder.

2. Select “Animation” from the provided editing options.
Select “Animation” from the Utilities page’s “Create New” section to bring you to the screen where all your photos will be displayed.

3. Simply select the photos, then click “Create” to proceed with the activity.
From all the images displayed on your screen, select those you wish to include in the animation. You can also search photos if you’re having difficulty locating the one you’re looking for by just entering a keyword or a location related to that photo.
Again, keep in mind that you can only include a maximum of 50 photos in your animation.

Create Simple Edits with Google Photos
Even though you’re not really the one making all the editing when it comes to creating movies, videos, or collages in Google Photos, being able to generate one through selecting different photos from your library is already a fun thing to do.
In doing so, you’ll surely enjoy looking back at your saved images and reminisce the moments you’ve had with various people — friends, family, and your loved ones too.
