Managing a large project on ClickUp means that you’ll have to create and allocate a lot of tasks. Placing these tasks in a single place can make your workspace disorganized and messy, making it hard for members to navigate them.

With the help of the spaces feature on the app, you can create different sections for your tasks. As such, you can create different spaces for different aspects of your project to make them organized.

How to create a new space on ClickUp

If you want another place to organize your folders, lists, and tasks within your ClickUp workspace, you can create a new space on the app. In this way, you won’t need to fit everything in a single place, making your project more organized.

You can create a new space on your ClickUp workspace whether you’re using the mobile, desktop, or web app. We’ll cover the steps for all three versions in our tutorials below.

On your computer:

  1. Launch the ClickUp desktop or web app and sign in to your account.
  2. Click the New Space button under the Space section of your sidebar.

  3. Choose the name of your new space and click Next.

  4. Choose the space’s color and avatar, and click Next.

  5. Choose whether to make your space public or private.
  6. Add the task statuses you want to use and click Next.

  7. Select the ClickUp apps that you want to be available within the space and click Next.

  8. Choose the required and default views available for your space and click “Review Space.”

  9. Recheck the space details and click “Create Space” to confirm your decision.

That’s how you create a space from scratch on the ClickUp desktop and web app. If you’re having trouble creating a brand new space within your workspace, you can choose from the available templates and customize them to your liking.

On your phone:

  1. Open the ClickUp mobile app and sign in to your account.
  2. Tap the three lines on the top left side of the app to open the sidebar.

  3. Expand the Spaces option on the sidebar and tap the plus icon to create a new space.

  4. Choose the name for the space, select its privacy option, and change the settings.

  5. Tap Create on the top right to confirm your decision.

Spaces are available on all workspace plans on ClickUp. However, users on the Free Forever plan can only create up to 5 spaces within their workspace.

Public spaces on ClickUp are visible to all members, admins, and owners of your workspace. On the other hand, private workspaces are only visible to members that have access to them.

Please note that Guests can’t see spaces within your workspace. Also, users on the Enterprise plan can share a space with a team.
