How To Create A Shortcut On The Firestick

Amazon’s Firestick is an amazing TV gadget to have around. With it, you can transform any TV that has an HDMI input into a smart TV. The Firestick allows you to watch your favorite shows and movies, play games, stream music, and keep up to date with the latest news. The in-built app store has a wide variety of apps to choose from. Most of them are free, but other apps like Netflix or Spotify require payment before its use.

Don’t worry; there are plenty of free apps. Therefore, you will get a great experience whether you pay or not. However, since the Firestick is not a smartphone, some of the apps that you download will not automatically appear on the home screen. So, at least for the first time, you will have to search for them on the internal menu. If this is an app that you use on a daily basis, it is better to have shortcut access on the home screen.

The process is quite simple; let’s begin:

Step 1

Scroll down from the home screen until you spot “Your apps and games” section. It should be the second option from the top down.

Step 2

Some of your apps will be displayed here. If the app that you are looking for isn’t here, you must press and hold the home button on your Firestick remote control. A new menu will unfold before you. Press the app option.

Step 3

Once you are inside the app section, you will see all the apps that you have installed in your Firestick. Search for the particular app that you wish to add to your home screen.

Step 4

Click on the options button on your remote control. After you click, a new set of options will appear on the right side of the screen. Choose the third option from the top down; the one that says “move to the front”.

After you click it, the app will automatically go to the upper side of the screen.

Alternatively, you can swing to the app that you wish to move. Click on the options button of your remote control, and choose move instead of move to the front.

Now, you can drag the app with your control, and put in at the top of the screen.

Step 5

Press the home button on your remote control; swing down to your apps and games section again. Your apps should be there, in the order that you establish in the app menu.

And That is all; as you can see, it is a very simple process. Now, you won’t spend time looking for a certain app over and over again. You will have your favorite app just a swing and click away. However, try not to overwhelm your apps and games section, or you will have a hard time looking for a particular app. Only make shortcuts for the apps that you use the most. It is better to leave all the others inside the apps section.
