How To Create A Draft On Instagram

Do you want to save photos you’ve edited on Instagram and post them at a later time? Or do you want to avoid throwing all the changes you made to the picture to waste? In any case, you can save posts as drafts and check them back at a later time. Follow our guide below and we’ll show you how to create drafts on the app.

Tutorial

When posting on Instagram, it can be quite difficult to pick the photo that you want to add to your feed. You might want to check and compare different filters and edits before posting the final one on your account.

If you’re torn about whether to post a picture or not on the app, you have the option to save it to your drafts in the meantime. In this way, you won’t throw all the changes and edits you made to waste.

Here’s our guide about using drafts on Instagram.

How to save a post you’re creating as a draft on Instagram

If you want to prepare photos or videos that you want to post on Instagram in the future, you can save them as drafts. In this way, you won’t need to edit the photos or videos when it’s time to post them.

You can create or save posts as drafts from the Instagram mobile app. Follow our step-by-step tutorial below to learn how.

On your phone:

  1. Launch Instagram on your device and sign in to your account.
  2. Tap the plus icon on the top right corner to add a post.
  3. Select the photo(s) that you want to use and select the arrow on the top right.

  4. Edit the photo or add some filters and tap the arrow on the top left corner of the screen.

  5. Tap “Save draft” on the pop-up window to save the post for the future.

If you don’t want to save the photo or video that you’re editing, you tap Discard on the pop-up window instead. When you discard the post, you won’t be able to save all the editing you’ve done on the photo or video.

You can find all your drafts by tapping the Drafts option when you’re adding a new post on the app. You’ll find the option beside the Gallery section below the photo preview.

Unfortunately, there’s no option to save drafts from the Instagram web app. You can only save drafts from their mobile app on iOS and Android.

To wrap things up

Now that you know how to save drafts on Instagram, you can now save all the changes you made to your photos instead of discarding them. In this way, you can come back to the photo and post them when you like.
