How to set an alias for your Viber community

If you want to hide your identity while posting in a community that you manage on Viber, you can set an alias on the chat. In this way, the app will display your alias details instead of your profile name when you send messages to the conversation.

You can set a custom alias whether you’re using the Viber app on your desktop or mobile device. Check our tutorials below for the steps to do so.

On your phone:

1. Open Viber from your home screen or app drawer and sign in to your account.
2. Go to the Chats tab and open the community that you want to manage.
3. Tap More options (three dots icon) on the conversation header and select “Community info” from the menu.
   
   
4. Select the Set Alias option from the sidebar that appears on your screen.
   
   
5. Choose the “Set new alias” option.
   
   
6. Add the alias name and photo. Tap the “Set alias” button at the bottom to save your new alias.
   
   
7. Select the new alias from the available options and select the “Set alias” button to confirm your decision.
   
   

After setting your new alias, you can now use it within your community. When you send a message to the chat, other people will see your alias name and photo instead of the one used on your profile.

On your computer:

1. Open the Viber desktop app and sign in to your account.
2. Go to the Chats tab and open the community that you want to manage.
3. Click the Set Alias button on the community info tab.
   
   
4. Select the Set new alias option below all the available alias on your screen.
   
   
5. Name your alias and add a photo. Select the Create Alias button at the bottom to confirm your decision.
   
   

Super admins and community admins can set an alias for their accounts whenever they want. Community admins can create one custom alias to make your content appear that it’s coming from one person.
