1st Generation FireStick 4k

If your FireStick was released on October 31, 2018, it is probably the 1st gen firestick 4k. You can also determine the 1st gen firestick 4k using the logo found in your firestick. You can find a curved arrow logo in front of your device. You can also check if the model is E9L29Y at the back.

1st Generation Fire TV Stick

There is a big difference between the 1st gen firestick 4k and 1st gen fire TV stick. Yes, it has a curved arrow logo in front of your device, but it additionally has “Amazon” written above the logo. To check it further, look at the back and see if the model number is W87CUN. This version was released on November 19, 2014.

2nd Generation Fire TV Stick

This version may look like the same with the 1st gen fire TV stick. But, if the model number at the back is LY73PR and if it is released on October 20, 2016, it is probably a 2nd gen fire TV stick.

1st Generation Fire TV Stick Basic Edition

If the model number of your firestick is LY73PR, but it doesn’t come with a voice remote (included is a non-voice remote), then it is most likely a 1st gen fire TV stick basic edition. Although this version and the 2nd gen fire TV stick appear to be similar, the basic edition is created for international markets. You can tell if your firestick is the basic edition if it was released on November 7, 2017.
